As a candidate, Trump vowed not to touch Medicare, Medicaid or Social Security. As president, he has offered budget proposals that would slash all three programs. Republicans have unveiled budget blueprints that include drastic cuts to Medicare and Medicaid, the federal-state healthcare program for the poor.
Did you expect anything different? We said this would happen. The tax cuts will ramp up the deficit, meaning the GOP have their'reason' to further cut medicare, social security, social programs they don't like, like support for birth control, climate policies etc...

Clever when you think of it. Give yourself and donors large tax breaks enforcing why they gave large donations to get you into power, even though it increases the deficit, which every analyst told them it would, Use this as a justification to force through spending cuts on social policies that are unpopular with your base/donors.

Maybe you should try again.

What else does Trump have to do before the GOP finally decide they've had enough of him? Every day seems to be a new low point, but surely willingness to serve as PR puppet for a regime that's just dismembered someone alive has to be some sort of tipping point? Seeing a man who has spent years leading crowds in chants of "lock her up!" suddenly complaining about innocent until proven guilty would be amusing were the circumstances not so horrific.

Surely we're at the point now where we can safely determine who has been bought and paid for by how they react to this? I don't see how any sane person can stand behind Trump's absurd "rogue killer" idea, or the fact someone in the office of POTUS would even consider that sort of response, yet here we are.

My take on it is that he's both a useful distraction and extremely easy to manipulate if you have access to him, so I think he's a useful tool for the senior GOP people around him. They can pass whatever legislation they want whislt everyone is being distracted by his antics, and ultimately if he becomes a liability, they'll just throw him under the bus and blame everything on him, leaving them Scot free.

Just dropped in for my occasional chuckle , this thread truly is comedy Gold, as another observed, an amusement arcade.

A truly great illustration of what Reinhold Niebuhr wisely wished for.

AP: Did they raise this idea of rogue killers in any of those conversations?

Trump: Well, the concept of it, I guess. Yesterday, when I spoke with the father, not so much today, but when I spoke to the father, it just sounded to me like he felt like he did not do it. He did not know about it and it sounded like, you know, the concept of rogue killers.

it just sounded to me like he felt like he did not do it....
So the US runs on trumps feelings, not the evidence...

"Three months before the 2016 election, a small group gathered at Trump Tower to meet with Donald Trump Jr.... The emissary, George Nader, told Trump that the princes who led Saudi Arabia and UAE were eager to help his father win election as president."

I'm sure it's merely coincidence that in a climate of Trump repeatedly attacking media outlets and journalists for publishing "fake news" and making him look bad, a journalist who has previously criticized Trump, who wrote for a paper that's been heavily criticized by Trump and which is owned by a man who has also been heavily criticized by Trump should have been killed by a regime loved by Trump. You'd have to be some sort of conspiracy loon to even start to think that looked a bit fishy.

The west has been turning a blind eye to the atrocities enacted on their citizens for decades.

They hold public beheadings regularly. No one in power cares.

Clever would be that a bunch of petrol heads on a motoring forum didn't see straight through it the moment it was announced smile

What never ceases to amaze me with this administration is just how brazen the tactics are, in spite of the greatest scrutiny we have probably ever seen. I do hope Mueller proves me wrong but Trump is almost looking untouchable. There have been so many potential tipping points but it just seems to make him feel more indestructible and be more brazen!

In fairness, if the death penalty is a judicial outcome provided-for by law, I have no problem with public beheadings as a way of achieving that end. It is no less humane than any other form of death penalty.

If the public beheadings are arbitrary and extra-judicial then that's a different matter, except insofar as their being public makes no difference.

There are many "civilised" nations who retain the death penalty.

So you don't think the crowd and the theatre make it even less humane?

Well, it's certainly different from 15 people beating up someone, injecting him with a lethal substance, then dismembering him with a bone saw whilst still alive, the day before his wedding...

The Trumps misled investors over and over about the viability of their businesses in order to make money, according to a new ProPublica investigation. Over multiple deals around the world, key sales numbers were repeatedly overstated to fool investors.

WTF???

So you were sent to find out what happened but didn't bother to talk about it or any facts pertaining to it?
