I think he's an interesting person, probably a bit broken by regular standards as he's got a million different things on the go at once and by all accounts just lives at work, doesn't ever go home or have a break. He's probably a bit of a whirlwind to be around and might truly believe that the worlds problems can all be solved through engineering, however he lives in a world that is seemingly against his vision by giving him these reality checks or rejections of what he's trying to do. He's also known to be quite sweary and throw around insults. The Twitter comment was daft and he was right to remove it, but we're in a sensitive world these days and lawyers are quick to jump in and ensure you're compensated.

Hopefully this will all blow over and he can carry on making rockets n stuff.

I learned this about Musk.

“Musk is known to appear disinterested while interviewing candidates. After he has finished asking his questions, he throws out a difficult riddle for potential candidates to answer, as noted in a recent authorized biography.

Here is the riddle Elon Musk asks:

"You're standing on the surface of the Earth. You walk one mile south, one mile west, and one mile north. You end up exactly where you started. Where are you?"

Anyone who thinks that that schoolboy riddle is an important question to ask of a serious applicant demonstrates a puerility that is staggering.
It's not even that difficult a riddle.
Contrary to what Musk probably thinks, there are an infinite number of places on earth where you could be in that riddle. We've done this one before.
I suspect he knows the right answer. The riddle is designed to catch out someone who works out the most obvious technical answer and stops at that point.

It's the sort of thing that leads to engineering fkups.
surely isn't the "right" answer either:
I am here
I am on earth

Hopefully he'll grow a set of balls and apologise without being prompted, learn some humility and become a better person.
Then perhaps this will blow over and he can go back to making rockets n stuff.

No no, that was whether an aeroplane would take off from a converyor, which it wouldn’t...

hehe
Of course it wouldn't because the conveyor makes the plane go backwards so there is no movement of air over the wing.

It really is, should be, as simple as that.

Anywhere that is 1.15 miles north of South Pole gets you back to same point... you basically walk South then do a 1 mile loop round the South Pole ... then back North on the same path. smile

How can it possibly take off? It is all about the air over the wings, and there would be none. Last time we debated this we decided it could not take off.

Yes, but things change, new technologies get developed, new science is made up.

It's too late for that already. He should have apologised at the same time he took the tweets down

Yep you take your shiny new Tesla down to the golf club and the first thing someone says is "how long have you had the pedo car"

What if you have a plane on a conveyor belt, and a big fan blowing at it? scratchchin

What sort of fan? A Musk fan or a pedo fan?
