The "Pedo Cave Rescuer" by the sounds of it is a regular bloke who dives the caves for recreation and thus was able to give rescuers some helpful information.
I think his expertise goes a bit further than that - he had officially surveyed that cave network a few years ago, and he had given the Thai authorities the names/contact details of the British guys who eventually found them.

All very strange, Musk accusing the bloke of paedophilia.

Yeah - he didn't do a single bit of diving. Not a single bit.

He may have briefed the english lads (I don't know them) on what the cave is like. But I'm slightly perplexed why he didn't assist with the search if he knew it so well...

Now I think Musk is a grade a tool for saying what he did. But I also think that he probably did want to help. I don't think there was any need for the bloke to sound of like he did. I can't comment if the invention would have worked (I doubt it). But why mouth of about someone trying to get attention - when you are effectively trying to say you were involved in the rescue? The real guys who did it are not back running their businesses - not gobbing off and acting up to journalists.
Oh good god. Unsworth is an ex-financial services person who is strongly into caving and lives in Chiang Rai - you know, where this whole thing took place? He was one of the first on the scene, went in as far as he could and when the professionals turned up he stepped back and let them do what they do. He knows the cave system, knows it's above his level of expertise when it's filling up with water at a rapid rate and he knows when to defer to people who know better. So it's no wonder that he doesn't blindly get into the queue to fellate Elon Musk when he waltzes in like some sort of Silicon Valley planet saving superstar.

The subsequent comment from him - "Bet ya a signed dollar it's true" - suggests otherwise.
... and what it that actually supposed to mean?

Is it just me or does his language/spelling seems really childish, 'problemo' 'swum' and the forementioned 'pedo'.

Last week, Narongsak Osottanakorn, the head of the rescue operation said Musk's submarine wasn't suitable for the task. Musk tweeted that Osottanakorn was “not the subject matter expert.”

Musk is a knob.

Using your logic Edison, arguably the world's greatest inventor, didn't invent anything after he invented the first industrial r&d lab (Menlo park).
No, Edison was consistently technically hands-on, not just a money-man flitting from hobby to hobby.
So is musk, unless you believe otherwise

He may not be hand building every component but without musk we would not have spacex' S achievements. He spends more time in engineering meetings than he does board meetings.

Most CEO's could be replaced at the drop of a hat. Without Musk there would be no space x and landing rockets.

That does not excuse his behaviour over the last few days though.

He is implying that the dollar becomes worth considerably more than its face value because he has signed it. A statement of pure narcissism.

I learned this about Musk.

“Musk is known to appear disinterested while interviewing candidates. After he has finished asking his questions, he throws out a difficult riddle for potential candidates to answer, as noted in a recent authorized biography.

Here is the riddle Elon Musk asks:

"You're standing on the surface of the Earth. You walk one mile south, one mile west, and one mile north. You end up exactly where you started. Where are you?"

Anyone who thinks that that schoolboy riddle is an important question to ask of a serious applicant demonstrates a puerility that is staggering.

Thing is, even if musk digs up some dirt and proves his assertions he'll still be a derp whose ego was too big not to take a bit steaming st over a whole-worlds-praying good-luck story and make it about himself. But he can't see that.

Not really, in the US this is an idiom.

Like 10 gets you a 100, or bet ya bottom dollar or any other similar phrase.

Pretty grubby and disappointing business from Musk.

I’m generally a fan of his work, space x, hyperloop etc. I don’t really know what he’s like as a person. Saying that about the diver is disgusting.

The diver now will likely have people trying to dig up facts about his past and life in Thailand. Even if he doesn’t try to sue Musk, he’s going to end up getting dragged through it, through no fault of his own.

Not exactly true. He told a billionaire to stick his invention up his arse.

Billionaires are in a position not to be spoken to like that, if so inclined...

Well you could also be 1.15915 miles north of the South Pole

Unsurprising post.

Normal people are going to be very disappointed by his idiotic tweets. They don't distract from his achievements, but they do make him look like a plonker.
A plonker leans against a bar that isn't there and falls over, Calling someone who he considered to have snubbed him a pedo is a whole different level. Normal people are not disappointed they are disgusted.
No. Normal people are disappointed that someone as capable as Musk is going to post such crap.

What?

Go outside and try it, anywhere other than the north pole, and see if you end up in the same place when you're finished.
I think this explains what I was thinking.
