Whilst she will probably go to prison, and I can see and understand the reason, it’s rather pointless I think. She’s no threat to the public. She’s taking up a spot that could be used for an extended sentence on a rapist or burglar.
I can't say I'm sorry if the appearance of arrogance that has come through is correct.
Prison isn't just about public safety. It's a punishment as well.I can't say I'm sorry if the appearance of arrogance that has come through is correct.
And a detergent for those that think they are above the law.

Can we send her a welcome to your new home Card. Will she be allowed to hold her Surgeries from behind bars .Maybe the reason for Corbyn saying "stupid woman" was because someone whispered in his ear "she has been found guilty".
If Corbyn was a bright boy, he'd say that as a get out. But he's not bright, so he won't!

Very strange view point. More so from ex plod. Especially the last sentence which is utterly irrelevant. In saying that I hasten to add I'm not condoning this woman's behaviour, I'm just saying there are other ways of punishing her apart from prison (which when space is short should IMO be used primarily for those who are a threat to the public).

I don't understand the mindset of anyone other than a toddler, who would try and evade a relatively trivial offence by committing a significantly more serious one. Deserves imprisonment, and there is precedence for it.
A pox on her.
Narcissism! A pox on her.
Corbyn is the same. Totally and utterly incapable of countenancing the suggestion that you are wrong, that you are not infallible and that people should believe what you tell them in all cases.Which is why he will never admit to the "woman" comment, even if he did say it

You're really arguing that she shouldn't go to prison because someone somewhere will do something worse one day?
Where has this fallacy come from that it's her or a rapist and we must choose??? It's utter cobblers!
She deserves everything she gets. At no point did she stop lying. She continued to treat the law, the judge, jury and public like idiots. She would lie to your face about it while smiling at you, thinking you're a tt because she can pull the wool over your eyes, given the chance.
She's a minor league Trump. Blames everyone else and is so arrogant they think they are untouchable.
She will rightly be made an example of. Anyone saying she shouldn't be sent down needs their head examined IMO.
I've said my piece. I'm not going to argue about this. My opinion will not change. I can see how this thread will deteriorate now, so I will take my leave of it.
She's going to prison. She deserves it. And I'm glad.

Yes she'll be struck off as a solicitor, and guidelines are 4-36 months in the poke. Chris and Vicki Huhne got 8 months for the same offence, with the guilty plea reduction. This wombat lied up to the end, so on a precedent basis she must get 1 year at the minimum
Why is his last sentence irrelevant? If you have finite prison space - and we have - I'd far rather see it occupied for longer by a rapist or a burglar than for someone who's committed the sort of crime she has.
In saying that I hasten to add I'm not condoning this woman's behaviour, I'm just saying there are other ways of punishing her apart from prison (which when space is short should IMO be used primarily for those who are a threat to the public).I can see your viewpoint but you're horribly wrong on so many levels.
Her prison spot is well deserved. PCOJ is a very serious offence. Our entire justice system is based around truth and honesty. Otherwise, it gives incentive for others to lie through their teeth. The threat of life imprisonment is a jolly good deterrent. If you get caught speeding, you can be truthful and accept the points and fine, or you can lie and go to jail for a year.
If the threat of jail wasn't there, do you honestly think people wouldn't try and wriggle out of a speeding fine?
And finally, the schadenfreude is just sooooo....... utterly delicious. Lets see how many virtue signalling lefties crawl out of the woodwork to try and defend her actions.
BYE BYE!!!
(I have been itching to use that guillotine emoji for a year)

You know, Derek, I think a perjurer is a threat to the public. I wouldn't like to be sent to prison by the testimony of someone who lied to a court - would you?
It's not the same as lying in a case against someone else. My experience, and I know it is only personal, but I've been to quite a few court cases, is that the majority, the vast majority in fact, of defendants lie in court. In theory they were guilty of perjury but the only person I've known who was dealt with for it was a police officer. I accept the arguments of this being a serious case, but it costs a small fortune to keep a person in prison, more so in the case of the average woman. It's money that could be used to better effect I think. I have seen what burglary can do to a victim yet the norm is for non-custodials. It is, under most definitions, an offence against the person.
There are many other punishments that could be used. Many other countries use non-custodials for this type of offence. I'd be happy for her to receive a two-year sentence which would include some sort of real service to the community, not just picking up debris from the side of the road.

Chris Huhne and Vicky Pryce each got 8 months for pretty will the same thing so why should this woman get anything less? As she's both an MP and a solicitor it's even worse and IMO she should get a stiffer sentence.
The lying piece of work, is my (maybenomore/should not be Mp) . Huhne and Pryce pleaded guilty, this article lied her head off and pleaded not guilty. She should get at least double what Huhne and co got . People locally I've spoken too, all thought her guilty in the first trial, and listening to them, she'd be strung up iff they had their way. I did hear, from a reliable source that they have other things on her, I wonder iff other charges could be brought, misconduct in a public office,or maybe perjury? Perhaps the sentence could reflect that though? Gassing Station | News, Politics & Economics | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
