No objection. You’re the one usually getting “sand in your vagina” about semantics when it suits you. And you’re the one now raising the semantics point. Simple matter is that the people who were involved in this incident were, AFAIK, British. No semantics, just facts as I believe them to be. Do you know differently?
You seem to want to redefine anyone who is described as Asian, as someone who isn’t in this case, Indian. As descendants/origin, they are very very likely Indian, Pakistani, and more recently British. Correct?

I suspect driving off and being uninsured etc was a major factor in sentencing. I don’t see this as a race issue. Many young lads have access to some relatively fast cars these days, add in a lack of experience, youthful risk taking, drugs etc, and it’s not surprising there are so many incidents involving them.

I'm not sure how I feel about this one. I attend car meets occasionally but I'm always conscious of the danger when people start drifting and doing burnouts etc and make sure I try and stand well away from potential courses the cars might take if they were to lose control. The death of a 19 year old girl is awful, and I can't even imagine how her family feel.
At the same time, they chose to be there, and chose to stand by the 'magic roundabout' and I'm pretty sure would have been encouraging the behaviour in doing so.
If they weren't aware of the risks then thats rather foolish, no matter how skilled a driver you are, in that situation you are an amateur in my eyes and I would not put my confidence in you by standing in the path of your car.
Interesting how he probably would be been a 'legend' in some peoples eyes if he continued the drift and continued on with his evening, one mistake or misjudgement and he's suddenly the devil.

Watkins lost his driving licence (he passed his test only in 2016) after a series of offences, including driving with no insurance.

All Kewy said was that the victims were willing participants in the event, and that it didn't require a rocket scientist to think "Maybe this isn't the safest of places to stand".

It is likely they were (are you victim blaming now?) or they may have been wandering past on their way back from a meal....All Kewy said was that the victims were willing participants in the event, and that it didn't require a rocket scientist to think "Maybe this isn't the safest of places to stand".

The lesson here is never, ever, take on TM2CVs when there is an opportunity to have your opinion debunked with a cut and paste from google maps.
How did you not know it’s one of his signature moves !!!???!!

My point is, you can't egg someone on to drive like a and then criticise them for driving like a when it all goes wrong...
If the crowds weren't there watching then they probably wouldn't act up. And it the crowds weren't standing there watching then theres no one in the way to get squashed when it all goes tits up.

Slightly O/T but when does enthusiastic driving cross the line into "driving like a tt"?For example I think "drifting" on a public road is fairly idiotic, but lots of people boast about "getting the back end out" on a roundabout.
Speeding is another example - the morons who killed themselves were doing something ridiculous but, OTOH, lots of PHers will think speeding "up to a certain level" is OK.....

Agreed. There are lots of examples of ttish driving, and certainly a grey area. But most situations you don't have crowds of 100+ people cheering it on and standing as close as possible to get ammo for their instagram account...For example I think "drifting" on a public road is fairly idiotic, but lots of people boast about "getting the back end out" on a roundabout.

It’s idiotic if someone else is doing it. It’s generally ok if I’m doing it. For example I think "drifting" on a public road is fairly idiotic, but lots of people boast about "getting the back end out" on a roundabout.

It's in the eye of the beholder. These people probably didn't think what they were doing/encouraging was tttish (although I'm sure everything after the first five words of the sentence is redundant). And, yes, Mr Brake-Member (ret'd) almost certainly thinks anything other than bimbling in a Honda Jazz is tttish.Countdown said:

Whereas I'd say kicking the arse end out on a roundabout was almost universally tttish.Countdown said:

For me, that's a relatively simple one. It's somewhere around the line that a fixed penalty would no longer be dangled at you. When you get to ban territory, that's definitely tttish. If you're past the point at which it's not even likely to be an SP code being waved at your licence, then it's a no-brainer.
(And, yes, for the avoidance of doubt, I definitely do drive like a tt on occasion... and not even that infrequently.)
