That is a remarkably stupid thing to tweet. https://twitter.com/YoungLabourUK/status/109743922...

Responding to the decision of a small group of MPs to resign the Labour whip, Jeremy Corbyn MP, Leader of the Labour Party, said:
“The Conservative Government is bungling Brexit, while Labour has set out a unifying and credible alternative plan. When millions are facing the misery of Universal Credit, rising crime, homelessness and poverty, now more than ever is the time to bring people together to build a better future for us all.”
Did he go on to say what that is because like everyone else, I guess, I'd love to hear it! “The Conservative Government is bungling Brexit, while Labour has set out a unifying and credible alternative plan. When millions are facing the misery of Universal Credit, rising crime, homelessness and poverty, now more than ever is the time to bring people together to build a better future for us all.”

Respect to all of them, I hooe they all get re-elected even though i'm more conservative, I genuinely thought that politicians with principles were in the past, and am glad to see I was wrong
Hear, hear. I am conservative in my politics but I admire people making a positive stand. Good luck to them. gizlaroc said:
Tom Bower on LBC talking about his book on Corbyn.
Very interesting and shows what a complete control freak, moron and danger Corbyn is.
Indeed - I enjoyed it. "... Corbyn isn't about improving people's lot, he wants everyone brought down to the same level..." what people have been saying for yearsVery interesting and shows what a complete control freak, moron and danger Corbyn is.

Hear, hear. I am conservative in my politics but I admire people making a positive stand. Good luck to them. This 7 haven't really done anything noble or brave here. Chuka and Berger are almost certain to be booted out by their local parties, likely the others too. In which case they'd be standing as lone independents if at all.
Going like this allows them the protection of being in a group rather than on their own (the group is also open to attracting more leavers). But as someone else pointed out if they were really taking a stand they'd be calling by-elections and letting the voters decide. It's literally the opposite of brave.
Having said that I welcome anything that fks Corbyn's lot up, and it's pretty obvious this isn't a good day for him. And it'll get worse (assuming he actually wants elected that is) if they go filling candidate vacancies with Momentum types.

there is approx. 100 on the list for deselection to be replaced with Corbyn clones. The Labour Party is a ticking time bombGoing like this allows them the protection of being in a group rather than on their own (the group is also open to attracting more leavers). It's going to be great fun watching the denouement of the battle between the MPs and majority of Labour voters on one side, and the party leadership, Momentum and lots of the party members on the other.
Two opposing forces, with balanced powers that can be brought to bear against one another.

...only if you believe the Mail, and a conveniently timed / planted story...
I don't read the mail . its based upon those who voted against him in the Parliamentary no confidence vote 172 -40 which he lost.Anyway it's nonsense. Labour have made big mistakes in the past by imposing candidates onto local parties (Field, Hoey, Berger..)

So then the 172 Labour MP's now fully back Corbyn and the "programme" as they call it. Anyway it's nonsense. Labour have made big mistakes in the past by imposing candidates onto local parties (Field, Hoey, Berger..)
There's plenty of different views, and room for them, within Labour. It's reasonable for Labour mp's to want a Labour govt though..
There are a large number of Labour MP's who are playing a waiting game at the moment Momentum hold power through the membership and if they get their way all of the MP's who obstruct Corbyn will be on the list . Remember a lot of those MP's are in rock solid Labour constituencies they could put up a chimp with a Red Rose and it would get elected so why not a member of momentum and then get more influence in Westminster.

AIUI the party machine has been taken over such that the local parties have the power to oust sitting MPs (candidates in an election setting) and install their preferred candidates, i.e. Momentum members.Anyway it's nonsense. Labour have made big mistakes in the past by imposing candidates onto local parties (Field, Hoey, Berger..)
There's no imposing going on, this is democracy the Labour way.

If local parties have the power to select their own candidates, which they do, then whether or not "the party machine" has been taken over matters much less.
Are you saying the power is with local parties or "the machine"?
