if Mr Blair hadn't gone along with Mr Bush and kept his distance whilst expressing sympathy perhaps things might be quite different.
Arguably he could have been supportive without doing what he did... allow use of UK bases in UK/Cyprus. Provide intelligence, etc... every thing short of boots on the ground. The outcome would have been the same, we would still have a "special relationship" and the British public would probably have accepted it more comfortably?techiedave said:

I’m not saying this is your point but it is often said that we painted a target on our backs to the Islamic terrorists by joining Dubyah in his money making scheme to invade Iraq. However the French have I believe suffered more attacks and more deaths through terrorism in the subsequent years to that foray, and they were dubbed the ‘cheese eating surrender monkeys’ at the time on account of their non-participation. He’ll still get 30% or more in the next General Election, assuming he survives until then.
We still seem to have ignored all the evidence that a substantial minority of the public is utterly immune to facts.
He supposedly avoided Glastonbury this year due to falling support amongst the young, so who knows! We still seem to have ignored all the evidence that a substantial minority of the public is utterly immune to facts.

My bet is he's gone by Xmas. I think 30% is very optimistic and there isn't a party who would work with them. Labour are screwed with him at the helm.We still seem to have ignored all the evidence that a substantial minority of the public is utterly immune to facts.

I think the SNP would work with him - in exchange for allowing a second independence referendum. The Lib Dems might offer outside support too in exchange for increased public spending and reversing Brexit. They’d call it a “progressive alliance” and tell their supporters they’re doing it to keep the evil Tories out.
I think either of those options are necessary if Labour are too take power. Neither will happen with Captain Intransigent in charge...biggbn said:

Just as you thought the spectre of a Labour administration couldn’t get any worse, along comes a prospective coalition of Labour and SNP. . . . . . . .
I would be delighted with such a partnership. Pastor Of Muppets said:
Labour in bed with the SNP... , I know Politics is in a bad era just now but that stoops to new depths.
Isnt deceitful liars something we want to rid politics of rather than multiply them?
Pedantry, but it wouldn't multiply them, merely combine them...Isnt deceitful liars something we want to rid politics of rather than multiply them?
And, look around at the present crop of deceitful liars. We are about to elect one as pm!!
