There was an hour of radio 4 yesterday which was a calm but clearly angry and constantly offended black lady was interviewing people on the street and implying that people bleaching their hair was unconscious racism. Nobody agreed with her, not white people, black people, nobody. Yet her entire programme painted her as some sort of passive victim, seeing offence everywhere. I'd say she was the ultimate snowflake but she would probably take offence at that too.

So given they've confirmed an Officer is being investigated for an "alleged use of language deliberately intended to offend and that had racist undertones." I'm not sure where the made up part comes from?
Do you think that statement supports the overall 'Political Correctness gone mad' tone of the article then?

The use of racist language deliberately intended to offend by a senior officer should be investigated, I would have though?

As an employment lawyer I'm going to stick my neck out and say this guy is going to be just fine and he won't be sacked. Sometimes you have to do these farsical investigations even if the end result is known by pretty much everyone from the start.
What happens to the people who make these time wasting claims of being offended by something which isn't offensive?

Can you quote this "deliberately offensive language" as you seem to be reading something completely unrelated...

Meh. "Whiter than white" huh?

That's nothing.

I was on a rail service during the strikes on Southwestern not so long ago. Due to cancellation of some services, the ones that did run were jam-packed. One news report referred to passengers being "packed in like sardines".

Nothing. There are normally 2 stages. The first is a fact finding exercise to collect the evidence and the allegations. It will then be decided if there is enough for it to go to a more formal stage for the allegations to be tested further. That this phrase was enough for it to pass stage one of the process isn't indicative that it'll go through stage 2 and the bloke will be sacked.

I'd expect him to receive a final written warning at worst and that is if he is v unlucky- but i don't think he will get sacked. The ONLY issue for him is if he is on a live warning for having done something like this before, which none of us know at the moment. If he is, then he may have a problem. If he has unblemished service, I think he'll be ok.

Honestly if you think this is bad, then wait 10-15 years

I genuinely believe it will be illegal to complain incase it hurts someone's feelings.

I'm all for this idiocy.

The more absurd and nonsensical these pogroms against nothing become the sooner it'll all disappear up it's own ahole, it's long overdue.

And if it doesn't, and this sort of bks actually becomes a part of modern mores then I'll just wait for an early, comfortable death. It's a win win.

'This' world will eat itself at some point, I just hope it's sooner rather than later so reset can be made asap to stop this bullst.

My Nan ran a private day nursery in Leicester a few years back, New Walk if anyone went there!

I lived in the flat above while at Uni and when I was there she received a letter from Leicester City Council and the education authority saying that the words should be changed to "green sheep" along with a few other gems like, had to be called a chalk board and not black board and "coffee with no milk" on the coffee machine.

This was the early 90's, no doubt thought up by 12 white people sitting in the offices and thinking they had done really well.

She ignored them, repeatedly.
Show me a letter.
Get real, this was 25 years ago, I didn't think to ask for a copy in case a car forum frequented by pedants were to start in 15 years time, and that in another 10 years after that this thread may appear.

She has been dead over 10 years, otherwise I would ask if she had kept you a copy. Haha

It wasn't just a letter, it was visits after that.

I would guess over half the the staff, kids and parents where non white and they all backed her up saying it was nonsense.

It was in the Mercury at the time too.

The thing was the kids never even considered their best mate had different coloured skin, just didn't even enter their head.
However, if you start changing their favourite songs or the name of something they use daily questions get asked, it does more harm than good.

I've heard rainbow sheep (covers most of the spectrum).

However, I have never actually seen a rainbow coloured sheep.

I live in hope.

So, Metropolitan Police Commissioner, what's going to be the approved terminology for policing the November fixture at Twickenham, when England play the New Zealand All Blacks?
