...Dr David Viner,
Oh, it must be December. People declaring the advent of winter disproves climate change, and turbobloke churning out this tiresome bks again.

It's a tad ironic that people who hate the concept of renewable energy are happy to recycle the same tired posts every year. smile

7) Even allowing for the above...is that it??? Of the thousands of climate scientists world wide you effectively come up with a handful who are deniers of MMGW and nobody has looked at their credentials or background yet as they are included in with known Big Oil lackeys...Spencer, Soon etc.

Must do better.
I looked up of a few of these names for fun and bloody hell, what a treasure trove of lunatics somebody's managed to cobble together. I'd guess it's from some absurd propaganda site like No Tricks Zone?

Honestly, I don't know how somebody can present a list like that and think it strengthens their position. Either they haven't checked the names, they hope nobody else does, or they're just willing to accept it at face value.
Dear oh dear. Durbster, does Viner's utter and unadulterated BS send shivers down your spine every year around this time? Is it as if your face is thrust into that lovely pristine powder that was never meant to be seen or known again. Get it wrong did he? Just like every single climate model gets it wrong every single time?

Oh course the irony of denier forecasting the future isn’t lost on me. biggrin
We're still waiting for a world in which there's no more snow. We're still waiting for fireball earth, dangerous rising sea levels measured in meters when the Greenland Ice Sheet melts and engulfs our cities, especially where Al Gore's beach side properties are natch. Lest we forget the mass extinctions that will wipe out whatever Attenborough hallucinates about this week, and all those millions of climate refugees wanting something or other to do with cwimate justice next week.

The only people looking utterly stupid, gullible and guilty are the alarmists who have been remarkably useful idiots in helping the Government in the UK spunk £18 billion every year for the last decade to combat cwimate cwhange. These jokers are the same hypocrites who moan about lack of funding for the NHS, Education and public services.

No, because I actually read the article and Viner doesn't say it will never snow again. rolleyes

As gets pointed out every year, this particular bullst is based on a misrepresentation of a single sentence from a sensationalist tabloid article written a dozen years ago. Ooh, devastating.

As is usually the case with turbospam, it's presented to appear significant, but anyone with scepticism will see through it. I'm not surprised you didn't.

I found Don Easterbrook when having a giggle at Terminator X's list yesterday.

He declared in 2001 that global cooling was about to start. Then was found to be fiddling the data, prompting a letter

It's funny that the so called self-labelled sceptics haven't mentioned him scratchchin

Methinks that Hairy doth protest too much. Don't you mean 'enhanced' CO2? And of course the climate has always changed! Are you postulating this as some kind of revelation? Moreover what about that huge fiery ball in the sky Hairy? Do you not imagine that our friendly neighbourhood star might out-rank a trace gas in the I-might-be-responsible-for-providing-planet-earth with life sustaining-warmth-and-life stuff innit?
So, with that huge fiery football in the sky entering a solar minimum you'll also be forecasting global cooling from this year.

Can't wait for the results to come in woohoo

I saw Don Easterbrook pretty much admit his global cooling predictions were politically motivated once on Roy Spencer's blog. He was being harassed to comment about his failed predictions until he finally snapped back that while his predictions were wrong he was on the 'right' side of history and if his predictions served to delay CO2 mitigation he was glad to have made them.

You really don't want global cooling, especially if we haven't planned for it, or even worse expect the planet to be getting warmer, reduced food output is no joke, but we're ok the top scientists have spoken, no need to worry.............

You what? Tabloid article? It was in the Independent. Are you sure you've read it, or is this yet another case of you believing what Skeptical Science tells you to?

The laughable claims by Viner are just one in a very long list of failed predictions about MMGW.

East Antarctica's glaciers are stirring

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/science-environment-465...

Nasa says it has detected the first signs of significant melting in a swathe of glaciers in East Antarctica.
The region has long been considered stable and unaffected by some of the more dramatic changes occurring elsewhere on the continent.
But satellites have now shown that ice streams running into the ocean along one-eighth of the eastern coastline have thinned and sped up.
If this trend continues, it has consequences for future sea levels.
There is enough ice in the drainage basins in this sector of Antarctica to raise the height of the global oceans by 28m - if it were all to melt out.
"That's the water equivalent to four Greenlands of ice," said Catherine Walker from Nasa's Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt, Maryland..........continues

And this shows up all of your posts on this particular subject for what they are, garbage. And this is from the independent too.

Of course you contrarians once again snatch at part of a speech and then deliberately go on to ignore the rest of it as it doesn't fit your narrow unscientific view. Misrepresentation 101.

No surprise there.

I notice you've ignored the fact that Viner never said never as you described and focussed your reply on the word 'tabloid'.

It's always the same. If you check the deniers source material, representation of the source material or the actual source itself then it all falls apart. laugh

As I've said before, I've been reading this thread for years and can't remember one denier quote that didn't fall down on one of those points.

They must wonder why they’re always on the opposite side to all the scientists and scientific institutions and all their evidence comes from dodgy websites.

BUT IT’S SNOWED! THEREFORE THERE’S NO WARMING! hehe

What next? Dangerous extraterrestrials approaching Earth as a warmer/cold/less predictable is attractive to them?

Liked how CNN compared rainfall on their chart - a chart showing an average from 1950-2000 compared to 2014 and 2015 (which conveniently excluded data for November and December). That kind of work wouldn't pass at GCSE level...

Worse than that.

Conspiracy theorists are saying that the entire scientific community and most world governments are colluding in a deception to raise tax and get funding.

Then:
Great Barrier Reef is Damaged Beyond Repair and Cannot Be Saved Say Scientists

Now;
Scientists Confirm Great Barrier Reef Is Recovering as Nature Climate Change study "Shows Tolerance To Climate Change"

The science is settled rofl

Corals evolved ~500 million years ago and have survived the Cretaceous Thermal Maximum (CTM) when surface temperatures of tropical oceans reached 35 deg C as well as the Palaeocene Eocene Thermal Maximum (PETM) when average sea surface temperatures reached 10 deg C at the poles.

Coral changes in terms of bleaching events seen recently are not unprecedented - such events occurred in the 1600s, 1700s and 1800s (see Xu et al 2018, also Kamenose & Hennige 2018).

In spite of CETM/PETM/bleaching in 16c-17c-18c (etc) corals are still here.

Coral scaremongering confirms it: rarely has so much carp been emitted by so few and inhaled by so many. Don't swallow it, check it out for yourself.

Coral researcher Dr Andersson said:
These corals didn’t seem to mind the fluctuations in local acidity that they created (themselves) which were much bigger than those we expect to see from climate change.
Coverage of coral research from Dr McCulloch said:
He and his colleagues put boxes around corals at Heron Island on the Great Barrier Reef and bubbled carbon dioxide into them, increasing acidity. The corals were unaffected in a simulation of the acidity expected by 2100.
Temperature and acidity (lower alkalinity) covered offsonar
