Take-up of MMR vaccine falls for fourth year in a row.
Discussion
And 'it is the fifth successive year coverage for the vaccine for diphtheria, whooping cough (pertussis), tetanus, polio and Hib disease has fallen in children aged 12 months'. Bit worrying that so many parents are shunning these vaccines.
The proportion of children in England getting immunised for measles, mumps and rubella (MMR) has fallen for the fourth year in a row, as uptake for a further nine out of the 12 routine vaccinations has dropped, figures show. Experts have said the impact of this is already playing out, with an ongoing measles outbreak in England. So far this year 876 cases have been confirmed, more than three times the number for the whole of 2017. They said the figures painted a concerning picture and that a continuing downward trend in immunisations for children could prompt the spread of harmful diseases within communities.

Well we had this similar discussion that confirmed (as many people apparently knew already) that plumbing/clean water/sewers are what massively reduced diseases long before vaccines came along. I believe someone confirmed that which my plumber told me, there was a huge correlation between the opening of a new sewer in London and the reduction in all these diseases. So therefore it seems clear that vaccines did not reduce disease, but sewers and clean water etc did
We are still lucky enough to have those here.

So why are the number of cases of these diseases rising as vaccine uptake drops. We live in possible the most sanitary time ever with clean running water to every home, sewers, cleaning products etc.Moonhawk said:

Don't look at me I thought vaccines reduced disease before the last thread on this.Do we have evidence of cases rising? I saw the other day MMR uptake seems to be around 90% which is way below the 95% needed so do we have large outbreaks at the moment? (I don't watch news!)

Erm - yes, and if people stop taking them, rates of the disease they are preventing tends to increase.......which is exactly what is being observed.Jasandjules said:

Just looked at the article (had to wash myself afterwards as it is the Guardian), it says the rate dropped from something like 91.6 to 91.2%?!?
Yet I just found this
https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/measles...
That seems to indicate the rates have been higher previous years and quite a lot higher than around 900 cases.

Hardly surprising when these people have a voice.

There was a site that was claiming that "homoeopathic remedies" can replace MMR 'without any side effects'. 21st century and people still buy that ste. The only problem is that kids suffer, not the dumbass parents inflicting misery on them.

In some of the wealthiest parts of LA now, the percentage of kids vaccinated is lower than in some of the poorest parts of the world.
Not vaccinating your kids is becoming the latest fashion statement, which is terrifying because big trends can sprout from those kinds of origins.
The main harm caused by idiocy like homeopathy and Goop products is on the wallets of the gullible, but this stuff affects everyone.

I'm sure you're trolling, but if you are not, please don't have children. We are still lucky enough to have those here.

I can't find any accurate source for uptake - can you please provide it so we can check the last few years compared to the incidence rates I have found.Hayek said:
They should just offer the seperate vaccines and dump the combined MMR. It doesn't matter that it's perfectly fine, there's a cloud of doubt that will forever hang over it.
That would be considered a victory by the ignorant. That sort of idiocy should never be rewarded.Maybe they should stop kids who haven't been vaccinated (without a valid reason) attending school.
