Now that we know the prorogation was unlawful, why didn't Bercow know it?
Perhaps because he’s not a high court judge?
He's got plenty of top level legal types sitting right in front of him in the HoC.

And law is about interpretation. They may have counselled that it was a risk, but rightly left it to the courts. It is pushing the boundaries of our wonderful constitution.

It might be time to start codifying our constitution a little more tightly.

So why didn’t they inform him?

I’m with you on Bercow but not BB. She didn’t take any st but did so with courtesy and decorum; a wholly different style to Bercow but just as effective.
She did indeed and maybe I am misjudging her. I feel Parliament and the executive are far less respectful now. Whilst we are generally trying to eradicate uncivil and bullying behaviours, sadly too many of our MPs of all colours think that they can behave and speak as they please.

Unfortunately it is a trait oft found in too many poster here.

Bercow: Typical of shortarses, inferiority complex which then changes to massive overego( see Napoleon, Schickelgruber, Erdogan)... a nasty poison dwarf who should never ever have been elected for anything. He's only good enough to empty the bins....
Thats an insult to binmen/ladies
You're right, I apologise to all binmen/ladies.......... to put it in yank "he's only good enough to take out the trash", so at least he started with himself...
Never mind, in sure you feel better for your brain fart.

Fortunately you are nowhere near having a say.

I really wouldn't want Hariet harperon
simply because she is the older type Labour knows best but we are lovely really type
At least she isn't the sort of idiot that thinks
"well we lost power because our Leader went to the polls too late. And the replacement guy didn't really have policies that stood up and came across badly. So we lost another election
Hey I know lets have a leadership contest and invite someone from the radical left to stand. it will be a wheeze and will show how so very inclusive we all are.
He won't stand a chance of course as we have folk like eyeshadow Andy standing but it will add colour to the debates. I could even encourage him so I would look all inclusive and modern and down with the kids."

Nah she isn't that sort of fkwit

The broader view is that MPs have behaved better since proceedings have been televised.

This is an interesting article that steps back and offers some perspective:

That is probably true. I just wonder if the cameras are now largely ignored and thus we are seeing a degradation of behaviour.

I found his approach of standing up for parliament and backbenchers refreshing.
So why did he not do this before Brexit?

I know a "Randy Bender" in the US. And a "Gabe Asher" (read it out loud).
And a "Richard Head" in the UK.

He did. You just didn’t bother to follow parliamentary sessions.

Never mind. He did become an MP and Speaker. What a shame your nasty opinion counts for naught.

Zing!

From Twitter - Hannah White:

Today over 60 current and former @HouseofCommons staff and others have written to @thetimes inviting all candidates for Speaker to commit to implementing an independent process for determining allegations of bullying and harassment by MPs within 6 months of taking office

https://twitter.com/DrHannahWhite/status/117205458...

The Bercow legacy is secured!
