Zing!

From Twitter - Hannah White:

Today over 60 current and former @HouseofCommons staff and others have written to @thetimes inviting all candidates for Speaker to commit to implementing an independent process for determining allegations of bullying and harassment by MPs within 6 months of taking office

https://twitter.com/DrHannahWhite/status/117205458...

The Bercow legacy is secured!

I see the offer from Verhofstadt has spurred him on.

"Bercow’s Nauseating Farewell" and The Verhaffair (if you can get at this review of "90+ minutes of sycophanctic tributes").

Personally I think Bercow's comments are outrageous.

What kind of man would demonize someone by likening them to a "bank robber"?!

He has managed to challenge the Speaker's role; his lack of impartiality [particularly recently] has shown that he he needs to go quickly before he destroys the basis of the role and it's usefulness in the HoC

Personally I think he should step down and allow his deputy to fill his place.

Seems Harman’s local party don’t want her to stand for Speaker.

They had a vote to consider urging her not to, but needed a recount:

“The vote urging Ms Harman to reconsider her candidacy was initially tied at 21 to 21 but a recount saw the motion passed by 26 to 22.”

Clearly not many mathematicians in the group....

The first count was done by the Abbottpotomus, she made it a tie at 150 votes to 100 out of 500 votes cast!!!!!!!!!!

I'm inclined to agree. I think he has overstepped the mark in the role of speaker by some miles.

Don’t worry about it, he’s just working his notice. Most people just do fk all on their notice period. At least he’s still grafting!

I think he is great if only for the amusement he gives me here seeing some get so vexed.

The next few weeks is going to be a fun ride.

Pity there is a clash with the Rugby though. Not really a match is it.

Now if only they could match England with Brexiteers, Boris, Govey, JRM, et al.

I didn't realize the speaker's powers went as far as negotiating with foreign powers on our behalf. Let's hope they don't.
