And yet Iain Duncan-Smith, the expenses-fiddling, racist bigot who’s total incompetence in his mercifully brief tenure as Tory party leader laid the foundations for the Blair/Brown Govt of 2005-10 that finally crashed the Economy gets a Knighthood.

Just about tells you all you need to know about Johnson....

Not at all, it tells you all you need to know about the 'honours' system.

Regarding the above attempt at blame transfer, IDS wasn't part of any Labour gov't and not as you describe.

His disastrous tenure as leader of the Conservatives took the party deep into the abyss and allowed Michael Howard no time to regroup and run a credible campaign in 2005. He also, with his vile, far right views, gave the right wing extremists sheltering in the Tory party oxygen that they should never have been allowed

Can't we give Brecon a Governership of St Helena or something.

Him baying for money has proved to be amusing and somewhat satisfying.

Good on Boris.

Regardless of recent events. Bercow provided 10 years of service to parliament.

It is disappointing that the child Boris has chosen to forgo tradition out of pure spite at not getting his own way. It appears this is the way Boris will conduct his premiership.

It would be madness to give Bercow a peerage now, wait a year or two till Brexit is over and then considering it would be more prudent.

In any event, he loves the attention and will always be up to something, plus his wife is nuts and an embarrassment, so if he isn't given one, I wouldn't lose sleep over it.

I'm also quite enjoying the total lack of self awareness from some quarters.

Specifically, the people who support(ed - RIP) the unprecedented attempt to sabotage one of the largest democratic exercises the UK has ever undertaken who are now crying about how this is against tradition laugh

He was so far away from being impartial he brought disgrace on the position of speaker of the house, no way should he get rewarded. Well done Boris.

It seems you do have to be 'this height' to go on that ride.

'This height' being at least 4ft.
