Corbyn lobbied to propose Bercow for a peerage by Bercow's wife, apparently, https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-7929563/J...

So no conflict of interest there then....

Feelings on his position re. Brexit aside, the rumours of bullying have been circulating for years.

I try to form my views on what I can perceive for myself rather than any media reporting (especially tabloids). In this case, I think it likely that the smoke come from a fire somewhere - he seems an egotistical individual and someone I could well believe could be an absolute arse to those he considers below him or don't ask how high when he shouts "jump".

He can make a fortune on the speaking circuit over the next few years so has no shortage of potential income.

If he desires a peerage above all else, and the accusations against him prove to have genuine merit. I hope he gets denied.

Elements of what he did were right in the brexit debate.
Such as?
Nope, I'm wrong. I went back through the archive thinking that some elements had a wider interest.

Apologies.

Shocking.
I was thinking of a suitably impressive statue of the man to be built with a grand unveiling by Princess Meghan of Hollywood followed by a new Bank Holiday in his honour. It may seem a bit commercial but what is convention if not to be questioned ?

The counter revolution continues.

Hoyle has just announced that from now on if the speaker rules in a way that the clerk of the house adjudged as contrary to rules or custom of the house then the clerk can lodge a written summary of the contrary view in the House of Commons library.

Aimed at preventing the speaker suppressing concerns about ‘constitutional creativity’ and ignoring the expert views of his own staff.

Good development.
Bercow really was a prize twunt.

Yup. I am so far very glad Hoyle was chosen.

Yes. I hoped he would get it and BH was a bit concerned that the "we must have a woman this time" bubble would stop him.
I get the impression with Mr Hoyle it's more about getting on with it than "ooh look at me"
Bercow is showing himself to be a complete tt and his "man of the people" crown looks to have been very misplaced

Hoyle has taken it back to how it was pre-Bercow and how it is supposed to be, ie minimal input from the Speaker.

I suspect that Bercow is the type of man that regularly Google’s himself. I do so hope he’s come across this thread. Even for a man with skin as thick as yours this must surely hit home eh John?

Bercow on the man accusing him of bullying:

"What we have got here is somebody who left the House, who is thrashing about, desperate to remain relevant, popping up at every turn, trying to make himself seem very important, very centre-stage, very at the heart of things in the way that I went about my work."

Oh the irony.

I've just been informed on another media site that " Anyone who criticises Bercow is a facist "

Hi John.

You're an odious little windsock.
