I need clarification.
Perhaps you should go back and read the last 32 pages of over 600 posts ,that might help you .
He actively blocked any progress of the Brexit bill , he used every tactic he could muster to try to kill it , I would not be the least surprised to find out he was secretly briefing Miller and other opponents in their High Court actions.
He was extremely rude to senior politicians.
Continually interrupting proceedings with over long diatribes
A workplace bully .
And now spraying mud around in the hope it will stick and deflect from attention to him .
Being retired I was able to watch BBC parliament , without biased BBC comment over the top , having seen him in action and not edited highlights , he is indeed odious
For more proof , look back at Betty Boothroyd on how she conducted the roll of speaker , and the current speaker , both seen and largely not heard ,unless absolutely necessary
The sooner he is denied the oxygen of publicity the better

I understand all that.
In a word though, how would you describe him?

Egocentric would be one word I'd use to describe him, but you really need to use several words to describe all his nasty traits.

Indeed the fact he used whatever tactics he fancied to direct things according to his beliefs and now he's outraged that others do the same to him is a delicious irony. A view to narrow to see himself in a reflection a failure to understand that principles and rules sit above personal self interest.

In my view he would be best advised to retire into quiet obscurity and spend more time watching his wife being fked by other men.

He made a very early appearance in the 'people you'd like to punch in the face' thread.

"Odious:

Arousing or meriting strong dislike, aversion, or intense displeasure."

Out of interest, how would you describe him in a word that is more suitable?

(Words like "short" etc don't count).

Apparently his 'book' has been down-priced by 40%. Won't be too long before it gets dumped in the Remainders bin. Quite apt, actually.

How about the true meaning of "unctuous" - and not the way chefs (esp Nigella) misuse the word?

I don't think there's a need to settle on one term for him when there are so many in the dictionary he seems to have made it his life's work to be an examplar of.

On the contrary I voted to remain, but accepted the result as a function of democracy and thought he was massively out of line as speaker... he draws dislike from many quarters.
