Not sure if it was Berni or Aberdeen/Angus Steakhouse, but a girlfriend asked for a side salad to accompany her meal and the waiter proudly return with a "garden salad" - a small plate of brussel sprouts, peas, beans and other assorted veg. Not a leafy bit in sight.
Aberdeen Angus Steakhouses - now they are utterly st.Roman Rhodes said:
3? You sure? Can I have the name of the place you do your drinking please?!
A large glass of wine is usually 250ml. That's three to a bottle. I've pointed out to people who say they'd drive after 2 glasses of wine and asked whether they would do so after two thirds of a bottle.
He's not happy....

"James Cleverly has clashed with Jamie Oliver after he blamed Brexit for the failure of his culinary empire.
The Tory party chairman and cabinet minister said the demise of Oliver's restaurant chain was nothing to do with Brexit but due to the poor quality and presentation of food Jamie's Italian dished up.
"I recently ate a Jamie's restaurant and the quality of food just didn't match the price," he tweeted."

The restaurants were Harvester quality food for very high prices.
No, they weren't.My view - Carluccio quality, higher price... and smaller portions...
On one occasion you'd get a dish that appeared to be a 1/4 scale model of what you ordered and on another you'd order lamb chops and get a herd of grilled sheep that would feed a Pakistani family.

That's rubbish, sorry. I worked with them professionally for a short period and there was real pride in the brand and passion for the cooking and ingredients at restaurant levelThe restaurants were Harvester quality food for very high prices.
It was decent quality stuff and they expanded too quickly and fell victim to falling demand.

His overseas restaurants don’t seem that great ... reputation of ‘jamies’ in Singapore is an overpriced tourist restaurant serving mediocre to average food.
He doesn’t have to worry about them so much given they aren’t his.So said:

Far more likely that it was Uber Eats / Deliveroo combined with the same chains on every high street, that did him in, not Brexit.
Uber Eats and Deliveroo aren't to blame. If people considered the Jamie's restaurant food to be desirable and of decent quality and value then people would have paid for it, either in the restaurants or for delivery via the aforementioned services. Apparently, despite having ever more options to consume his food, people just weren't interested.alfaman said:

TBH he came over well. Suggestion is he put in £25m if his own cash. Seems to have done some positive stuff around the food sourcing for the restaurants. But equally there were people other than him who ran them - I suspect that part he regrets.
In the end he attributes it mainly to “cathedrals rather than churches” (real estate), changing behaviours, maybe a little bit of Brexit (sentiment), and not getting it right.
I didn’t think he came across badly at all.
