Vegan extremists
Discussion
Also going here for my birthday in a couple of weeks for an 8-course tasting menu. Anyone who says you can't enjoy your food as a vegan just doesn't have an imagination. https://www.instagram.com/awairestaurant/?hl=en

How does 1500 kg of grain turn into 7200 litres of oat milk, which will weigh about 7200 kg? A lot of something is being added to it, what is that something? The 5,000 litres of milk you get from an acre of forage is just that, milk, ready to drink. Nothing added, nothing to add, just drink it. And where did you get 1500kg from? Oats yield about 2.5t/ac.
What's the main component of milk? Could it possibly be water?Tired said:
Do you have a background in farming or agriculture? If you have a look around google you'll find many farmers stating they can easily accommodate up to 2 cows per acre with good land management and no additional feed.
That 1.1 to 8.9 you quote is anywhere between 455 and 3679 l/acre.
A massive range, and not a million miles away from the 5000 Farmer Willy was quoting a few pages back, when you told him he was completely wrong.
No I'm not a farmer, I just used the figure that out Agriculture Scholar and his mate provided! That 1.1 to 8.9 you quote is anywhere between 455 and 3679 l/acre.

We've already run his own numbers of milk and Soy. And found Soy still beat Milk even when using worst case.

A cow producing 10,000 litres per acre isn't just eating from that acre. It's eating concentrate food that has been grown elsewhere. So unless you can quantity that additional ground then your >5000 litres per acre value is entirely unfounded.
Dairy farmers have been quantifying this you years. First you would look at your gross margin, then compare with margin over concentrates and margin over purchased feed. If you're buying forage in you'll still want to know how efficient this is for your business. Farmer Giles wants to know if he is using his land to its potential. Davos123 said:

I would be genuinely interested in alternatives that meet my nutritional and taste requirements.
Tasty, low carbohydrate, high protein, moderate calorie meal ideas welcome. Say, under 800 kcals, > 100g protein, < 35g carbs?
Preferably no wheat, it gives me the sts.
I was going to suggest seitan will give you what you're looking for but it's made from wheat gluten.Tasty, low carbohydrate, high protein, moderate calorie meal ideas welcome. Say, under 800 kcals, > 100g protein, < 35g carbs?

What does it taste like?

It's possible I would be OK, I don't know whether it's an intolerance to gluten or to something else in it. I might see if I can get hold of some to try.
What does it taste like?
Meat! It's a mock meat. Depending on where you live you may struggle to buy it pre-made. Vegan specialty shops will have it. Very easy to make yourself at home though and dozens of recipes online, depending on spices and other ingredients you can have it imitate a lot of different types of meat. In my pics of food the strips of kebab meat are seitan. It's pure and complete protein. What does it taste like?

Hmm, I think I'd want to make it or buy it with as little processing as possible to make into something. I wouldn't buy the kind of highly processed meat you get in Iceland, so I wouldn't really want a vegan version of the same. And I've no intention of giving up meat, so if I'm going to have something else I don't really want imitation meat, if you see what I mean.
I don't really miss bread, though if I have it in the house for guests or eat out somewhere that it's on the table, I can't leave the damn stuff alone. Then end up bloated and squirty
Mostly for evening meals I eat a large portion of meat or fish and an enormous portion of veg or salad. But I like veg and salad.

I've posted a fair few of those in the show us your dinner thread and I think you've commented on them before not all of that is my work btw, lots of restaurant stuff in there
When I went veggie, I was accidentally bought a BOSH! Cookbook thinking it was a veggie one by my mum, it's vegan lol. That said whilst I'm not Vegan I've cooked many many recipes from it and they are bloody always nice. Nutritional yeast seems to be the key ingredient in many as it does elevate the flavour big time. I particularly like the 'seaside pie' recipe. What about omnivore extremists? I am questioned about my vegetairianism daily by people who eat meat and 'can't believe YOU don't eat meat' or try to get me to taste a bit of chicken or whatever. I am not militant in anyway, I doubt you would guess i don't eat meat, I certainly don't evangelise about it, it's a personal choice. My Mrs and daughter still enjoy eating meat, doesn't bother me. Extremists exist at both ends of a spectrum, but those trying to push their belief that eating meat is OK and refusing to accept other people's choices are just as bad as vegans in gruel and lentil knit sweaters (vegan stereotype #21)
