Michael D. Cohen, President Trump’s former personal lawyer who implicated him in a scheme to pay hush money to two women claiming to have had affairs with him, has agreed to testify before the House Oversight Committee next month and give “a full and credible account” of his work for Mr. Trump.

Just watching the bruhaha over the wall on c4news, how come this wasn't put through a year ago when the GoP held congress and potus?
Because none of the republicans wanted it either.
Basically. Neither party wants to spend billions on a useless wall, GOP as usual always talk abut supporting trump but wont vote for it.

Trump , who knows more about politics than anyone, is surprised when the opposition oppose him.

Edit -

Politically Trump got elected on a mandate of building the wall.
Democrats just won a landslide victory in the house on a mandate for not building the wall.

Expect this to drag on until Trump is impeached.
There's no reason for Mitch McConnell or the GOP to refuse to fund the Government, they signed a bill for this just before Christmas

Actually there's another way around this.
Trump declares emergency powers to build the wall from the military budget
That gets challenged and goes to court which will take years, in the meantime an injunction means the government can be funded

Trump seems to be fighting for his wall....

I think thats why he has possibly been discussing this because someones told him this is his way out, because he needs one having backed himself into a corner. I think within his team though there's a real issue with some saying do it and some strongly advising against it, hence his indecision.

Basically, he has no experience or credentials to be running a government and this is another example of how he struggles to understand any of the complexities of his actions. He's no longer in charge of his own company where others cover up his mistakes (or he walks away from a bankrupcy)

He's so used to people backing down that he doesn't know what to do when they don't.

Suing people who can't afford a long court battle and sycophantic employees have made him believe he has the Midas touch.

He's too simple to understand that being president is not the same as being boss of your own company.

He only bragged about taking responsibility for the shutdown on national television because he thought the Democrats would back down immediately and it would be seen as big win for him.

Oops...

NY times is reporting that Mueller is looking into prominent Ukrainians went to Trump's inauguration with ideas about lifting sanctions on Russia.

https://www.nytimes.com/2019/01/10/us/politics/ukr...

I mean, they put enough money into trumps inauguration fund, they'd have wanted something in return

Nearly every lawmaker who represents a district or state along the U.S.-Mexico border — including two Republicans — either opposes outright or more quietly declines to support President Donald Trump’s $5.7 billion request for a border wall, according to a survey conducted by POLITICO.

He's also used to taking money from other pots that he's not supposed to spend, trump organisation, trump foundation, trump inauguration, that he's trying to do the same to fund his fence.

President Donald Trump has been briefed on a plan that would use the Army Corps of Engineers and a portion of $13.9 billion of Army Corps funding to build 315 miles of barrier along the U.S.-Mexico border, according to three U.S. officials familiar with the briefing.

The money was set aside to fund projects all over the country including storm-damaged areas of Puerto Rico through fiscal year 2020, but the checks have not been written yet and, under an emergency declaration, the president could take the money from these civil works projects and use it to build the border wall, said officials familiar with the briefing and two congressional sources.

The plan could be implemented if Trump declares a national emergency in order to build the wall and would use more money and build more miles than the administration has requested from Congress. The president had requested $5.7 billion for a wall stretching 234 miles.

I do wish the media would now call it a fence rather than a wall. That would infuriate him

Also yesterday CBP officers showed Trump blown-up photos today of tunnels that were dug to get guns and drugs across the border.
Neither border agents nor Trump explained how a border wall would help stop the flow of drugs through tunnels and legal ports of entry.

It's an awful lot of money to be wasting on a metal fence when $100 or so will get you through it with something like this...

Is there an end date for the Mueller investigation or a date by which he will file his report? Or is it a case of how deep does the rabbit hole go and he is funded / resourced until he declares it over?

There's just been a 6 month extension on the grand jury time, plus Rosenstein has said he'll stay until the report is produced, but also he'll go when Barr is confirmed as Barr will replace him with his choice of deputy.

As Barr's confirmation starts next week.......

Edit: the good news is with trumps fixation on the wall, he's stopped his obstruction of justice, giving Mueller a chance to catchup. It's hard to finish something if the criminal keeps committing crimes biggrin

Hannity tonight, during Trump interview: “We lose 300 Americans a week, 90% of the heroin comes into the country. In the last two weeks we lost officer Singh in California.”

Trump tweeted it as:
Donald J. Trump
@realDonaldTrump

We lose 300 Americans a week, 90% of which comes through the Southern Border. These numbers will be DRASTICALLY REDUCED if we have a Wall!

This is sad news. It's being reported as:
A not-small number of people in rural eastern California love to ride their jacked-up vehicles around the desert & seethe with anger at public lands that don't let them. This is their revenge against what they see as a park service that denies them their fun.

Trump: “What are we gonna build?”

MAGA: “A wall!”

Trump: “And who’s gonna pay for it?”

MAGA: “Disaster victims!”

Trump in 2016 on Mexico: "They may even write us a check."
Trump yesterday on Mexico: "I never said they're going to write out a check."

More bad news for trump:

MICHAEL COHEN, President Trump's former fixer and personal attorney, will testify in PUBLIC before House Oversight on Feb. 7. Expect questions about his involvement in hush money scheme to silence Trump affairs, the Trump Tower Moscow project in 2016 and other controversies

https://www.nytimes.com/2019/01/10/us/politics/mic...

ON TV AND UNDER OATH! 7th Feb

“In furtherance of my commitment to cooperate and provide the American people with answers,” Mr. Cohen said in a statement, “I have accepted the invitation by Chairman Elijah Cummings to appear publicly on Feb. 7. I look forward to having the privilege of being afforded a platform with which to give a full and credible account of the events which have transpired.”
