trumps scedule today - no signs of negotiations, rather trump deliverign a statement on what he's now trying to call a humanitarian crisis on the southern border.

Melania's flown to Mar-a-Lago, trump is missing his golf and the warm weather. Any bets on he stops the shutdown because it's hurting the GOP, whilst taking the credit for being the more mature in stopping the Dems shutdown, then he's in the air to Mar-a-Lago by 4:30pm?

So this is now a “humanitarian crisis” and not an invasion of the United States by terrorists. Looks like Trump was convinced that his dangerous invasion by mothers and kids wasn’t getting any traction. But a wall doesn’t solve humanitarian crisis.

Interesting timing as Congress is off for 10 days - hence Pelosi and others trips to the troops and Nato

Former Pres. George W. Bush delivers pizza to federal employees working without pay. “It’s time for leaders on both sides to put politics aside, come together, and end this shutdown,” Bush wrote on Instagram.

That's a bit of a cheesy stunt, in more ways than one, but I guess it's a case of fighting low-bar fire with low-bar fire to get through to Trump's base.

The real winners under this administration are fast food outlets.

Nope the real winners are China and Russia. Irrationality of the last two years means the US is no longer a stabilising political influence. Russia is filling the void
Wihdrawal from trade agreements and trade wars means Russia and China have stepped up to fill the void

It's the BBC - nobody on PH will believe it smile

It just shows though that when there are thousands of lies being told, sorting out the REAL lies from the fake lies is difficult.

The Mueller team statement IS very carefully worded, though.

"Buzzfeed's description of specific statements to the Special Counsel's Office, and characterisation of documents and testimony obtained by this office, regarding Michael Cohen's Congressional testimony are not accurate."

You can't tell from that whether they are "true" or not, merely that the Mueller team does not agree with the manner in which they have been presented. Buzzfeed could have any number of discrepancies, whilst still representing a grain of truth.

For example, it could have been one agent, or three, providing the information, and Mueller's statement is entirely truthful (as Buzzfeed's statement said two).

You know when I said there would be interesting statistics from the government shutdown, this is not what I had in mind (safe for work): https://www.pornhub.com/insights/government-shutdo...

So basically when people are off work they are staying up later and watching more porn....? I would have assumed that was fairly predictable.... hehe

As I said this morning, The Buzzfeed article is mostly correct, the Special Council’s office statement is not a denial, just that parts are wrong.

The article mentions documents being shown to the reporters, essentially a leak from the SDNY, not Mueller. Mueller never leaks and he made the unprecedented decision to clarify this.

I think this is that Mueller had to respond when the BuzzFeed story was pushing Congress to move quickly to impeach. Mueller needs more time to finish properly and they cannot have Congress jumping the gun.

CREW has found that the total number of known conflicts of interest involving the Trump Organization over the last two years now stands at more than 1,400.

They ramped up significantly in the second year
During President Trump’s second year in office, CREW recorded more than 900 interactions between the government, those trying to influence it, and the Trump Organization, each resulting in a conflict of interest for President Trump.

CBS are saying that A senior administration official said that President Trump will present what the White House believes could be a deal to end the shutdown The deal was largely influenced by talks between VP Pence, Senate Maj. Leader McConnell and Jared Kushner"
https://www.cbsnews.com/news/trump-major-announcem...

The art of the deal: work out the terms on your side, propose them on tv, and never meet with the people who have to agree or determine what they want.

Trump is expected to propose a extending DACA & TPS protections (BRIDGE Act) in exchange for his $5.7 billion wall demand, exactly the deal he turned down over a year ago. This is what Kushner has been working on. They believe they can get enough senate votes to push it through and then pressure builds on the House.

They'd need 7 dems to go with them to get the 60 votes needed.

The drumming guy was a Vietnam vet, fought for his country (well, the country the early immigrants let him have anyway...).

It's difficult to know where to start to be honest, so many things in this one little moment.
