McCabes book keeps dropping little interesting details.
During a briefing in July 2017, trump refused to believe U.S. intel reports that North Korea had test-fired an intercontinental ballistic missile.

He thought North Korea did not have the capability, McCabe said, "because Vladimir Putin had told him so."

but then Jeff Sessions didn't come out well either
  • Didn't read intel reports
  • Mixed up classified material with news reports
  • Often overwhelmed in meetings
  • Blamed immigrants for societal problems and uttered racist sentiments with shocking callousness

Hard to see how this could be seen as a win. He wanted $25bn for his wall, shutdown the government because he didn't get $5.7bn, was offered $1.6bn, now it looks like he's goign to have to accept $1.3bn.

Art of the deal indeed.
All he will see from that is "I've got $1.3 bn,yay me,I'm brilliant!", everything else is "fake nooz"

If anything, he won't mention the figure, he'll stand next to the bit of fencing being built for a photo op

Indeed. He simply made up recently that he was already building it. The sign at his rallies now say 'finish the wall'

http://nymag.com/intelligencer/2019/02/trump-finis...

Now President Trump is revealing his fallback plan: pretend he succeeded.

Hell, his base believe all other lies he tells.

The wall isn't even necessary for his base. They support it because trump wants it and they support trump. It's only Ann Coulter who gives him stick for it

He's been claiming for months that the wall is being built - some parts of existing fencing are being refurbed (signed off under Obama admin) and to be charitable bits of the new wall are being built - prototypes for testing / evaluation - so it's completely believable that he's now using the finish the wall slogan.

Its worrying that 35% still thought Trump looked "strong" after the shutdown. Over a third of respondents were clearly delusional, but they're also registered voters.

35% is a little over what appears to be Trump's consistent "base", which looks like it hovers around 30-33% in most polls. These are the people who would never vote Democrat, but would vote Republican until the end of time. So I'd take from this that the 35% aren't answering the question. They're answering a different question: Do you like Donald Trump or do you like Nancy Pelosi?

More like; Do you like Donald Trump or do you wanna be a pinko-french-libtard-democrat-gay-east/west-coast-gun stealing pederast.
Forget about lines in sand, 'you're with us or against us', this goes above polarisation.
It's like matter and anti-matter. LIke what powers the universe, this dark matter thinking is powerful stuff!

This is America (but not a national emergency).

Can’t imagine living somewhere where even 0.00001% of me thought my kid may get killed at school when I drop them off.

that just beggars belief. Can you imagine your kid's school sending such a letter out? How this can't be seen as a crisis is unbelievable. Guns over every thing - what a crazy, fked up mess.

This is top of the list of reasons why we left the US in 2016 (pre-Trump!). We had a 3 year old and in 2016 they were looking at passing a law so the teachers could carry guns. Enough was enough, back to the UK for us.

If we'd have been there when Trump was sworn in, we'd have left anyway.
