The donald is still at Mar-a-Lago today and rather than concern himself with the National Emergency he declared, he's busy tweeting about the trump investigation, how it's soooo unfair. he's also suggesting that his current deputy attorney general committed illegal and treasonous acts.

Surely thats libel/slander?
He wont believe he can be held to account until he is. He hasnt been his whole life.

If Mueller eventually does, it will 100% be a surpise to him because he genuinely thinks its impossible. To be fair, a lot of things that affect normal people are impossible or near as damn it for ultra high net worth individuals, let alone presidents/UHNW combined.

The court challenges have started

The Center for Biological Diversity, Defenders of Wildlife and Animal Legal Defense Fund have sued the Trump admin in U.S. District Court in Washington, D.C. over the president's emergency declaration to pay for his border walls.

He's gone to play golf for the third day in a row: Trump has arrived at Trump International Golf Club in West Palm Beach

Maybe he can take the $$$ for the wall from the presidential security budget. All he has to do is stop playing golf / visiting Mar a Lago, and the savings will pay for it easily

He doesn't appear to be doing his (probable) upcoming defence of the emergency much good.

Remember, he was going to be too busy to golf and going to be stuck in the WH all the time...

He got it the wrong way round! He's too busy to WH, stuck on the golf course

(he also moaned about being stuck in the WH working on his own during the shutdown. We now know he has a simulator (as Obama did) in the WH so he probably wasn't working then either)

Mr Pessimist speaks again.

We don't know who Trump will be up against yet. So are you saying that there is absolutely nobody who can stand against him with better than a 5% chance of beating him?
Admittedly I'm a pessimist but just look at the numbers.

His behaviour over the last 4 years hasn't changed, His presidency has been the exact shower of st that many many people predicted. He continues to behave on the international stage like a 13 year old girl. He's openly criticised many parts of the US security apparatus, something that would have been considered treasonous under any previous regime. And yet, despite all that, his numbers are as high as they have ever been.

In terms of 2020. he has got a clear single unifying message that a LOT of US voters care about. It's immigration. regardless of how completely stupid the wall is, he knows it rouses his core into a frenzy. it really doesn't matter if everything else he says is rubbish and that he spouts something like 10 lies every day. There isn't (yet) either a candidate or a USP for his opponents to rally around.

The definition of insanity is doing the same thing again and expecting a different result. That's the path that the Dems seem to be heading down.

And, FWIW, if and when the Dems choose somebody to lead them, I guarantee that Trump will make up some unbelievable lie that ends up taking the whole focus away from any manifesto policies. Like the one about ted Cruz's dad assassinating somebody. When your voters are that stupid you cannot present a sane counter argument.

I wanted to disagree with that assertion but then I found this: https://projects.fivethirtyeight.com/trump-approva...
Which shows he is on 42% approve vs around 44% when he took office.

Rasmussen has him at 50%. (IIRC Rasmussen was the most accurate pollster in 2016.)

His current approval rating is higher than Obama's.

Isnt Rasmussen consistently way above anyone else for Trump ratings?

My link was a from poll aggregation.
But it's moot - he remains remarkably popular by any measure, I think...
It is frankly astonishing.

If you don't live in an echo chamber of "Orange man bad" it isn't, but seeing more than one single view is hard to do so I understand why so many don't put the effort it.

I try and glean information from Trump supporters as to why the support him as I try an avoid the echo chamber effect.

I seriously struggle to find anything sensible.
