he seems to think it's illegal to be gay.
I think he needs to look at the U.S. Supreme Court in a 6–3 decision in Lawrence v. Texas which struck down the Texas same-sex sodomy law, ruling that this private sexual conduct is protected by the liberty rights implicit in the due process clause of the United States Constitution.
Happened 26 June, 2003,
But there are countries where it is illegal to be gay, and Trump's regime should be applauded if sanctions on them manage to bring any of the countries that do prosecute it into the 21st century.

Absolutely right. Not everything Trump decides is stupid/wrong/etc (cf the occasional pardons).

A broken clock is also right twice a day. smile

It would be great news if this is successful in even in one country. Can't wait to see how it is spun against him.
It's not hard to see how it will be spun against him, it's literally written in the article in the first couple of paragraphs.

Trump doesn't give a st about homosexuals in other countries. It's a stick to hit Iran with and if that means pretending to fight for gay rights then he'll do that for about 5 minutes before going back to bleating about Russia and wall.

You're right that it would be great news, but the idea that Trump can influence countries like Iran to change their stance on homosexuality is laughable.

Trump is also right about stating that European countries should repatriate Isis fighters to their home countries for trial. He is not wrong 100% of the time - just 98%.

I'd suggest a start would be for his administration to condemn this guy - https://metro.co.uk/2019/02/16/us-politician-sugge...

Yes, more the fool him for even trying. rolleyes

Couldn't care less what his motivations were or if you think he doesn't care (I suspect you'd be right), it's a cause worth getting behind and hopefully kicks a few more western nations into action.

Perhaps he should start closer to home, perhaps with the Vice President?
he's been a long time supporter of anti gay movements

As is his wife.
Karen Pence, the second lady of the United States, has started a job at a school that bans LGBT pupils and staff.

Pence, who is married to the vice-president, Mike Pence, will be teaching art twice a week at Immanuel Christian, an elementary school in northern Virginia.

The school makes parents sign an agreement, available online, which states that the school reserves the right to refuse admission to, or remove from the school, any pupil who participates in, supports or condones “sexual immorality, homosexual activity or bi-sexual activity”.

Are kids being forced to those schools with no alternatives? Looks like it's a private school? Here's an idea, don'y use it if you don't like their backwards policies.

Second link isn't what you say in your post.

And attempting to decriminalise homosexuality would allow those to marry in the instance of the second post.

Your first sentence is a bit snowflakey, are you feeling alright? Did I hurt your feelings?

Completely agree on the second bit. Like with the North Korea thing I wish Trump every success and would gladly see him get a nobel prize if he were successful.

Vice President Mike Pence over the weekend addressed the annual Values Voter Summit, a conference hosted by Christian activist group Family Research Council, which is designated an “anti-LGBT hate group” by the Southern Poverty Law Center. Pence is the first vice president to address the group’s yearly event, and last year President Donald Trump became the first sitting president to do so.

The Trump administration on Monday began denying visas to same-sex domestic partners of foreign diplomats and United Nations employees, and requiring those already in the United States to get married by the end of the year or leave the country.

The U.S. Mission to the U.N. portrayed the decision—which foreign diplomats fear will increase hardships for same-sex couples in countries that don’t recognize same-sex marriage—as an effort to bring its international visa practices in line with current U.S. policy. In light of the landmark 2015 Supreme Court decision legalizing same-sex marriage, the U.S. extends diplomatic visas only to married spouses of U.S. diplomats.

Trump promised to be LGBTQ-friendly. His first year in office proved it was a giant con.
From Trump’s ban on transgender military service to his failure to acknowledge Pride Month, his administration now has a long anti-LGBTQ record.

But if his regime managed what they are now trying, he'd be remembered for all time for the president that sparked that.

It's extremely ambitious, but good luck to it.

Apologies, missed the Mike Pence part. Don't have an issue with him speaking anywhere. It is not going to affect to the rights for homosexuals to exist. I don't tend to hold anything the SPLC say to much accuracy given the Maajid Nawaz settlement.

As I said above, if by some miracle his campaign was decriminalising homosexuality across the world, he'd be remembered in pretty high regard in history by those who weren't deluded.

"the idea that Trump can influence countries like Iran to change their stance on homosexuality is laughable."

It was in response to this you clown. If this logic were present across all humans, what would be the point in trying to change anything for the better.

Forums may be confusing for you, but you quoted a completely different post when you wrote it.

I assumed it was in response to the post you quoted, because you know, that's the fundamental way conversations work.

You clown.

Bless your sweet heart for seeing the real pure reasons Trump is doing this rather than being all cynical though. How blind the rest of us are!
