France, UK and Germany launch INSTEX (Institute in Support of Trade Exchange), the SPV (Special Purpose Vehicle) designed to facilitate trade with Iran: https://www.dw.com/en/instex-europe-sets-up-transa...

<><><>

An SPV called INSTEX which, yeah, I know it sounds like something you should go see the doctor about but it's important we talk about this now because it will expand in the future.

Joking aside instex is a geopolitical acorn being planted in France with a place reserved for British and German executives. I describe it as an acorn because much like a seed contains the information for a tree instex contains all the components for a global banking system but it's really small at the moment.

On the surface it is a way for Iran and Europe to trade regardless of American sanctions but to do that it must contain a SWIFT alternative and it must contain a data firewall to exclude American banks, government and law enforcement. Most importantly it is designed with expansion in mind. If this is starting to sound an awful lot like the Maas plan in miniature then you'd be correct.

For anyone who's forgotten, back when Trump started to get all trade war on Europe Juncker turned up at the white house with some coloured cards that were so effective we've barely heard a peep from Trump since. We'll never know what was on those cards but a clue is that about the same time Heiko Maas put together a plan to undermine American financial hegemony which was then quietly squashed by Merkel once the public threat had been delivered.

The way instex is being put together it is more than a vehicle to trade with Iran. It's a mini Maas plan, small and unthreatening but with capabilities in place should they be needed. One to watch, especially if Trump gets a second term and hence has enough time to actually start breaking things.
That is fascinating, thank you for posting.

More swamp news

The nation’s biggest coal-burning power companies paid a top lobbying firm millions of dollars to fight a wide range of Obama-era environmental rules, documents obtained by POLITICO reveal — shortly before one of the firm’s partners became President Donald Trump’s top air pollution regulator.

Now that ex-partner, Bill Wehrum, is aggressively working to undo many of those same regulations at the EPA, where he is an assistant administrator in charge of issues including climate change, smog and power plants’ mercury pollution.

Residents of another Manhattan building have voted to remove the Trump name.

For the second time in four months, the name “Trump Place" will come down from a New York building facade, after condo owners at 120 Riverside Blvd. voted to remove the name, following 5 other buildings doing the same.

Breaking news on Reuters: North Carolina orders new election in undecided US House race after hearing evidence it was tainted by ballot fraud
That could be one of trumps senate seats being lost?
The State Board of Elections is made up of three Democrats and two Republicans, but it needed at least one of the Republicans to vote with the Democrats, surprising that they did tbh.
In all fairness the Republican candidate Mark Harris himself told the state election board that he believed a new election should be called.

https://www.vox.com/policy-and-politics/2019/2/18/...
Did he have a choice? The evidence against him was overwhealming
He said this after a lunch recess, in which he also claimed recent medical issues, including two strokes, had impaired his abilities and recall and acknowledged that some of his testimony on Thursday morning had been “incorrect.”

North Carolina officials on Thursday ordered a new contest in the Ninth Congressional District after the Republican candidate, confronted by evidence that his campaign had financed an illegal voter-turnout effort, called for a new election.

The unanimous ruling by the five-member Board of Elections was a startling — and, for Republicans, embarrassing — conclusion to a case that has convulsed North Carolina since November

Ruth Maddow ran her show last night on why there's actually no ruling that says a sitting president cant be indicted

"It would be timely and appropriate for the Justice Department and Robert Mueller to reconsider the shaky policy regarding indictability of a sitting president first formulated 45 years ago."

"They did not accept the proposition that a president could not be indicted, and indeed strongly believed that he could be an unindicted co-conspirator and did that with regard to Nixon." -Walter Dellinger, former assistant attorney general, Office of Legal Counsel

GOP North Carolina voter fraud.

For months, Mark Harris claimed he was SHOCKED to learn a campaign operative was running an election fraud scheme
Then his son testified. John Harris laid out in meticulous detail how he had warned his father for YEARS that McCrae Dowless was breaking the law and tried to convince him not to hire him and he had the emails to prove it.

Mark Harris and his legal team tried to hide all of this from investigators. John Harris said his dad’s attorneys told him they had turned over the emails but he found out that never happened, so he did it himself. John Harris is a US attorney himself.

If true, the relevant state bar should look into whether the attorneys for Mark Harris should be disbarred.

Also, based on the growing evidence of knowing electoral fraud by @GOP candidate @MarkHarrisNC9, with over 1,000 ballots affected, the House should seat @McCreadyForNC.
Good on John Harris for doing that when he knows the implications for his father, but he had given him enough warnings it seems so its his own fault.

Looks like the donald can't even target other money for his wall correctly - it's already been spent

https://www.rollcall.com/news/congress/congress-bl...

More than one-third of the money President Donald Trump wants to redirect from other federal programs to build a border barrier is likely to be unavailable from the sources he has identified.

Trump announced Feb. 15 that, using emergency powers, he wants to divert as much as $6.7 billion from other programs to finance the construction of barriers along the U.S.-Mexico border. That includes $3.6 billion from unspent military construction money, $2.5 billion in unspent Pentagon counterdrug funds and $600 million from a Treasury Department asset forfeiture account.

But the Defense Department has told lawmakers that only $85 million remains unspent in the counterdrug account

And knowing Govt... they're working on spending that last $85 million well before the next budget.

You sound upset.

But residents are permitted to change the name of their building if they want so you'll just have to get over it.

If you want to see a real waste of time and money... look at what someone is trying to build on the southern border.
