Then of course there's Puerto Rico, that trump doesn't want to give any more money to, after being hit by a series of huricanes

The White House doubled down Wednesday on President Donald Trump's comments opposing disaster funding for Puerto Rico, drawing outrage from Democratic members of Congress and raising questions about the administration's rationale.

On Tuesday, Trump told Republican legislators at a closed-door Capitol Hill meeting that Puerto Rico had gotten too much money to rebuild after Hurricane Maria. The amount “is way out of proportion to what Texas and Florida and others have gotten,” Trump said, according to Sen. Marco Rubio, R-Fla., who was in the room.

Rather than simply react to Trump's latest mouthfart why don't the Dems start proceedings to make Puerto Rico a state like it ought to be, or at least legislate for PR to become a state if they hold a referendum? Half the problem with the orange buffoon is he makes all the running.

It wouldn’t be popular with the voters.

Should Hawaii have its statehood recinded?

Do you want to become a US State and start paying federal income tax? Good luck with that!

Following the claims from Cohen that trump inflated his value to get loans, the Washington Post has an in-depth look at how Trump inflated his wealth, such as:
Added 10 stories to Trump Tower by changing the floor numbers
Inflated number of lots for sale at Cali club
Exaggerated the size of vineyard
Exaggerated the value of Westchester Co. estate
Left out buildings with loans

One of Kushners trips to Saudi is coming under further investigation

The House Foreign Affairs Committee is demanding a briefing from Mike Pompeo on Jared Kushner's trip to Saudi Arabia last month that included a senior State Department official but otherwise left American diplomats in the dark.

Brian Hook is the official who travelled with Kushner and is the department’s special representative for Iran. He's one of several current and former State Department officials under investigation by the Office of the Inspector General for alleged politically-motivated personnel decisions.

Trump Admin now feel empowered.

Betsy DeVos is specifically asking, not for just a reduction in the spending on the Special Olympics, she is specifically calling to eliminate all federal funding, all U.S. government support, for the Special Olympics.

In her budget proposal for 2020, Secretary of Education Betsy DeVos moved to cut all federal funding for the Special Olympics, the program that provides opportunities for disabled athletes to compete and train year-round.

The proposed $17.6 million cut to the Special Olympics comes as a small but very public example of the Trump administration’s slashing of the Education Department budget. The administration intends to cut around $8.5 billion, or about 12 percent, of the current budget — although a budget request can be more of a wish list than an actionable plan.

Someones got to pay for those tax cuts
Someone in team trump got him to reverse the cuts, pointing out it looked really bad at a time they are seen to be on the up following Barrs summary of the Mueller report

Btw "Conservative" doesn't necessarily mean that a person is stupid. If a person believes that the earth is only 6000 years old that isn't "conservative" it's stupid. And if people believe that the Democrats support post-birth abortion or that Mexico is going to pay for a wall then my view is that they ARE stupid
I agree that being Conservative (with or without a capital C, as they say) doesn't mean that someone is stupid anymore than someone being left wing does. The fringes of either, though, do breed ignorance which is amplified by the echo chamber. Fanciful thinking exists at either end of the spectrum, just with quite different perspectives.

A federal judge in Washington ruled late Thursday that the Trump administration’s push to make health insurance plans available outside the Affordable Care Act that avoid the requirements of the health-care law was illegal, calling the efforts “clearly an end-run around the ACA.”

The 43-page ruling, submitted by U.S. District Judge John D. Bates of the District of Columbia, blocks new rules from the Trump administration overseeing “association health plans,” which would allow small businesses to combine their forces to offer plans outside the ACA that would be both less expensive and provide fewer health protections.

The Trump appointee who oversees Medicare-Medicaid quietly directed millions of taxpayer dollars in contracts to Republican communications consultants during her tenure — including hiring a GOP media adviser to bolster her profile.

Seema Verma employs a team of private consultants who write her speeches, polish her brand and travel with her across the country.

Here we go - fresh from his rally and chants of 'Lock em up' trumps now threatening to close the border with Mexico again
a triple tweet

Donald J. Trump
@realDonaldTrump

The DEMOCRATS have given us the weakest immigration laws anywhere in the World. Mexico has the strongest, & they make more than $100 Billion a year on the U.S. Therefore, CONGRESS MUST CHANGE OUR WEAK IMMIGRATION LAWS NOW, & Mexico must stop illegals from entering the U.S....

....through their country and our Southern Border. Mexico has for many years made a fortune off of the U.S., far greater than Border Costs. If Mexico doesn’t immediately stop ALL illegal immigration coming into the United States throug our Southern Border, I will be CLOSING.....

....the Border, or large sections of the Border, next week. This would be so easy for Mexico to do, but they just take our money and “talk.” Besides, we lose so much money with them, especially when you add in drug trafficking etc.), that the Border closing would be a good thing!

I think he's sore they won't pay for his wall.

It would be interesting to see what a long term closure would do to crime in the US. A lot of petty crime is to feed drug habits, if you reduce supply by closing off the southern border you push up the price which would surely result in more crime?

The us is awash with drugs. New supply routes would be found, new ways of producing it. Where there is demand someone will find a way.

Most dope comes in through border crossings on the back of trucks, by plane, by boat; precious little comes via the yawning wall vacuum that is where the cheez wiz in chief wants to build his wall of stupid.

Trucks and tunnels isn’t it? Trucks that cross the border which he is claiming he will close. This isn’t about his building a wall he is threatening to actually close the border crossings.
