They have been quite busy getting rid of those pesky regulations on safety, workers rights and the environment which are all bad for business. Should ensure lots more donations for the 2020 campaign.

Interesting article, what was missed from the Mueller report
https://www.politico.com/story/2019/04/23/mueller-...

The ex wife of a former Russian energy official sent an unsolicited email to Mueller last year claiming that, in 2015, her husband asked her to reach out to Ivanka “on behalf of Russian officials” who wanted to offer Trump “land in Crimea.”

Annie Donaldson, chief of staff to former White House counsel Don McGahn, appears throughout Mueller’s report in some of its most critical moments, often as the White House aide who took some of the most critical and contemporaneous notes.

Washington Post is reporting that trump is privately worried Don McGahn's testimony could lead to his impeachment, Trump is trying to close down oversight everywhere, but his power to do this isn't limitless. And that's making him angry

Iran sanctions waivers to expire on May 2nd and will not be renewed as many had been expecting. China and Turkey say they will continue importing Iranian oil anyway: https://www.ibtimes.com/china-turkey-defy-us-will-...

The Indian government has issued the slightly cryptic statement “We are adequately prepared to deal with the impact of this decision.” Which if my Indian to English translator is working correctly means 'we have no intention of going along with your crazy plan but will smile a lot and be very nice about it': https://www.hindustantimes.com/business-news/will-...

Going to be interesting to see how this plays out. If America decides to employ their sanctions it leaves room for tit for tat retaliation but there is also the question of how the Chinese, Turks and Indians will choose pay for their oil. Will it be through purpose made companies that have no exposure to American markets? If so then how far down the supply chain are America willing to pursue this?

A quick google threw up this interesting clue. Last month the Duma passed legislation to approve it's Swift alternative for international use, it is an interbank messaging system designed specifically to ensure that banks and companies can operate normally regardless of American sanctions:

article said:
Aksakov confirmed that they had already started reaching out their international partners to use their new financial messaging system. The parliamentarian said that Russia was in talks with Iran, Turkey, China, India about the joint use of the system.
My my, what convenient timing. Someone's on the ball here and it's not the Americans.

Interesting link. I wonder how much of this stuff would have made headlines under a normal president but has instead been buried because everyone's watching the cavalcade of clowns in the white house? Takes bread and circuses to a whole new level.

It looks like we'll be seeing how well trump has loaded the legal system with favourable judges.

House Ways & Means member Lloyd Doggett on Treasury missing the deadline for Trump's tax returns: "More obstruction! President Trump and his enablers are simply engaged in obstructing the performance of a ministerial duty that the requested returns ‘shall’ be provided."

House Oversight Chair Elijah Cummings: "This administration has done everything in its power and used every means necessary to block the Congress from getting the information that we need to do our job ... He's trampling on the Constitution. No doubt about it."

Meanwhile the Russians are still doing their best for trump.
A network of more than 5,000 pro-Trump Twitter bots railed against the “Russiagate hoax” shortly after the release of Mueller's report last week

Trump claims he's innocent, yet in the last two days has

  • Ignored the 2nd deadline for Trump's tax returns
  • Sued the Oversight committee. & Trump's accounting firm
  • Told Carl Kline not to testify before the Oversight committee.
  • Decided to fight a Judiciary committee. subpoena for McGahn to testify

It's quite fascinating seeing him push the system. I guess it will reveal how powerless or not it is.

@realDonaldTrump

You mean the Stock Market hit an all-time record high today and they’re actually talking impeachment!? Will I ever be given credit for anything by the Fake News Media or Radical Liberal Dems? NO COLLUSION!

The stock market went up 210% under Clinton. He was still impeached for lying about an affair.

Kushner joined in yesterday, saying that Russia’s interference in the 2016 presidential campaign was just a “couple of Facebook ads” and said the investigation of it was far more damaging to the U.S. than the intrusion itself

https://www.nytimes.com/2019/04/23/us/politics/jar...

Facebook estimated that Russia-backed ads and social media posts reached 126 million Americans during the election, only about 10 million fewer than voted in 2016. Moreover, Russians hacked accounts of the Democratic National Committee and leaked damaging information about Mr. Trump’s opponent, Hillary Clinton, at critical moments during the campaign.

Kline has refused to respond to his subpoena
Former White House personnel security director Carl Kline received a subpoena for a closed hearing after a longtime employee in the White House security clearance office, Tricia Newbold, told lawmakers that she and other colleagues had denied 25 applications for clearances only to see their denials overturned by supervisors.

The House Oversight and Reform Committee chairman, Rep. Elijah Cummings (D-Md.), said in a statement, "I intend to consult with House counsel and committee members about scheduling a vote on contempt."
https://www.latimes.com/politics/la-na-pol-subpoen...

Why consult, just do it.
Contempt of Congress is defined here. Defendant can be arrested by the Sergeant-at-Arms. If DOJ refuses to prosecute, Congress can refer to a Federal judge who can also hold person in contempt and jail him/her.
https://www.law.cornell.edu/wex/contempt_of_congre...

Also here it's reported Cummings said:
Cummings added. “To date, the White House has refused to produce a single piece of paper or a single witness in any of the committee’s investigations this entire year.”

Who gives a toss about the Stock Market anyway, apart from the gullible fools and greedy buggers who play it? Much more interested to see Trump suing his own accountancy firm, getting the blame in early.

Still amazes me that these people are willing to very publicly commit career suicide for Trump.

Do they actually believe he'll have their back once they've done what he wants or they've outlived their usefulness? Where is his track record of that? His track record glaringly shows the exact opposite!

How can they believe he's a man of honesty/integrity when the reason they are facing subpoenas is because of Trump wanting them to lie or obstruct justice?

As has be said before, it's similar to a cult. But I'd always believed cult members to be vulnerable or damaged people looking for something in their lives, not high level government employees, lawyers and judges etc...

If there's any integrity left in America and they want to show it to the world, they need to push Trump back 10 times harder.

I am starting to worry that the will does not seem to be there to deal with trump. I'd assumed as soon as the first day, with the crowd size lying fiasco, that this bunch of clowns would be long gone way before now, and since then we have had 2 years of constant lying and lawbreaking. Yet, as 'Croyft' would be joyfully telling us were he here, 'he is still POTUS'...
