I have been making a few comments over there. Which banned member do we think D&O is?

In most cases ignorance is highly wilful: https://psychology-spot.com/motivated-ignorance/

I'm only just beginning to get in to network theory but as I understand it the problem looks something like this:

People don't understand issues in isolation but have an integrated world view where their opinions on migration, economics, climate change, etc are all linked and dependent on each other, so if someone changes their opinion on one topic it can unsettle all sorts of other opinions within someone's world view.

EG If a christian is against gay marriage then for them to change their opinion may require them to re-evaluate deep held views about the bible and their understanding of god. If they do re-evaluate their opinion about gay marriage and the bible then they've got a whole network of people around them who might find their new opinion unsettling, what will their spouse think, their preacher, their friends at church, etc?

Political opinions work in a similar way so if someone supports (or dislikes) Trump there will be an internal network of deeply held political beliefs and an external network of people who validate and express a similar world view, none of which is easy to change.

It was a fair jibe and made me laugh.

I tend to use this thread as a scratch pad for marshaling my ideas in to some sort of coherent order, the aim being to eventually write a book about how and why politics is changing in the democratic world. What you're getting is snippets of my research that I'm trying to explain to myself as much as anyone else.

No one's complained yet and and it seems to dovetail quite well with Byker's updates smile

'Deep' was a compliment smile good luck with the writing, it's a broad but important subject, sometimes I despair at the mess; infantilisation of the population, obvious pretence of the politic, cultural hijacking without discourse, polarisation of views... but then I've seen worse I suppose. The Algerian situation is interesting, the whole government, business elites, presidency and power structure being whittled away slowly by huge popular peaceful pressure. I don't know how it'll end up but wish them well, we're in a similar boat to how they were, just better disguised. 'Divide and rule' when we could do with a bit more 'unite and lead'...

PS That Trump protest thread is a bit shouty, isn't it? I think I might back quietly out of there...

Same old people doing the same old shouting, because it's easier to attack a poster than to defend trump. Rather similar tactics trump uses, shouts and attacks to cover lies and wrongdoing. Countdown seems to be attracting most. If somethings organised I might go again, just to see

Back to the news,

"The Office of New York State Attorney General Letitia James has launched an investigation related to the National Rifle Association (NRA)," a spokesperson for the attorney general told NPR. "As part of this investigation, the Attorney General has issued subpoenas. We will not have further comment at this time."

https://www.npr.org/2019/04/27/717808885/oliver-no...

The N.R.A. faced a challenge from the New York attorney general, Letitia James, who had opened an investigation into the gun group’s tax-exempt status.

On Friday, Ms. James’s office sent letters instructing the N.R.A. and affiliated entities, including its charitable foundation, to preserve relevant financial records. Some of the N.R.A.’s related businesses also received subpoenas, according to people with knowledge of the inquiry. Both the attorney general’s office and a lawyer for the N.R.A. confirmed the investigation.

Just hours after a deadly shooting at a synagogue near San Diego, the President warned supporters at a Wisconsin rally that the Democrats will “take your guns away.”

At a campaign rally in Green Bay Saturday night, the President viciously attacked his “enemies” in media, the intelligence community, and the Democratic party. He railed against intelligence officials as “dirty cops” and “scum”, and followed with attacks on CNN’s ratings and the “fake news.” However, it seems particularly insidious, even for Trump, to try and instill fear in his supporters about guns just hours after a gunman opened fire on a synagogue with an AR-15 style weapon.

But trumps fault.

Are you a Trump supporter?"
You mean that Zionist, Jew-loving, anti-White, traitorous cocksucker? Don't make me laugh.

"Are you affiliated with any political ideology?"
Yes. It's called not wanting to go extinct.

"Are you a conservative?"
I am not a useless, spineless coward so noI am not a conservative.

trump at his rally yesterday claimed Democrats support murdering babies:

"The baby is born, the mother meets w/the doctor. They take care of the baby. They wrap the baby beautifully. Then the doctor and mother determine whether or not they will execute the baby."
