How much power does the House or Senate actually have? If they find Barr in contempt or lied does he go to jail? Can they fire him or does that need to come from the president?
They can be impeached, like any other public official, however it's unlikely as if they're willing to go that far they'll just ask for his resignation and Barr would be daft not to offer it.

IIRC, 2/3 of the senate are required to overrule the president if he decides to veto anything.
Would the Senate need to impeach him? Just think as it’s a republican held senate it wouldn’t get very far.
I think they'd just ask for his resignation, which is saying "jump or be pushed". Being a republican held senate, they'd like to avoid any additional controversies.

However who knows what will happen?

Trump accuses Harris of being 'very nasty' to Barr, looking for 'political points'

I'm thinking that after we subpoena chicken Barr and force him to testify in @HouseJudiciary, I'm going to invite @SenKamalaHarris to the hearing and then I'm going to yield my time to her.

Dems will have to look like the party of law and follow procedure, so they'll subpoena first, then claim contempt.

Before that tough, Barr has to hand over the full report. Muellers letter made it clear there was nothing to stop that.

On the same day the Trump administration said it would reunite thousands of migrant families it had separated at the border with the help of a "central database," an official was admitting privately the government only had enough information to reconnect 60 parents with their kids, according to emails obtained by NBC News.

"[I]n short, no, we do not have any linkages from parents to [children], save for a handful," a Health and Human Services official told a top official at Immigration and Customs Enforcement on June 23, 2018. "We have a list of parent alien numbers but no way to link them to children."

Did we have this? Trump supporter Stephen Taubert got 46 months sentence for threatening to kill Obama, and Maxine Waters, and her staff members, over racially abusive phones calls to them.

“Probably the worst thing for me is social media,” Mr. Taubert said during the sentencing hearing, the Post-Standard reported. “I should stay off of it. When I hear all these people knocking the president, it upsets me.”

That really is a sobering thought. How did it ever get to this?

When the film of this farrago gets made Barr will be an easy one to cast; he's basically John Goodman's long lost twin.
I wonder if SNL could have him (Goodman) on for the opening

Swamp news.

The U.S. State Department allowed at least seven foreign governments to rent luxury condominiums in New York’s Trump World Tower in 2017 without approval from Congress, according to documents and people familiar with the leases, a potential violation of the U.S. Constitution’s emoluments clause.
The emoluments clause bans U.S. officials from accepting gifts or payments from foreign governments without congressional consent.

Because the policy was one of deterrent. They thought by taking the kids it would put everybody off from coming, refusing to accept the desperate reasons people came in the first place. And so they didn't do any planning to record where they went, it was thought to be a short term thing. Having put it in place, encouraged by Miller, trump would never back down and so it continued.

This won’t make Trump sycophants happy.

Facebook has removed Louis Farrakhan, Alex Jones, Paul Nehlen, Milo Yiannopoulos, Paul Joseph Watson, Laura Loomer, and Infowars from Facebook and Instagram, after designating their accounts as "dangerous," The Verge reports.

The humour has started biggrin

Arby’s employee: “Would you like fries with that?”

Barr: l’m struggling with the word ‘like’.”

Attorney General William Barr on Thursday proved unable to give honest answers to a drive-thru window at a Bethesda, Maryland, Arby’s restaurant.

Barr, who drove up to the window just after noon, appeared evasive and halting after the drive-thru attendant asked to take his order.

“I cannot recall what I would like to order at this time,” Barr said, according to the attendant.

When pressed repeatedly to name a sandwich, drink, or side order that he preferred, Barr stonewalled, the attendant said.

“The questions I was asking him couldn’t have been clearer,” the attendant told reporters. “I asked him if he wanted to order a Smokehouse Brisket sandwich. He refused to give me a yes-or-no answer.”

This shouldn't be forgotten after Barrs performance in front of the senate. Barr has refused to recluse himself from overseeing the other 14 investigations still ongoing into team trump.

I’m gravely concerned that the 14 remaining criminal referrals for criminal investigation related to this same matter are really under the supervision and control of Attorney General Barr. He has virtually disqualified himself to be the kind of person that we expect to stand back and make sure that justice is served when it comes to these 14 referrals,” Durbin said on CNN.
