Alabama joins Poland and Malta in having similar laws. Alabama had a Referendum on this last year, and it was backed overwhelmingly by both genders, of all educational backgrounds. Poland was another country that reversed abortion laws, and that was done over 20 years ago. But where are the descriptions of Poland being a backward "medieval" society. And there is no evidence that the Maltese particularly want to change their law. Even amongst college students, its a fairly solid majority against a change:

.

Plus, you should remember. its easier to get an abortion in Mozambique, North Korea, China and Vietnam, than the UK. So maybe, in this respect, we ought not cast stones.
What splendid squirrels!

Where is the thread on abortion in Poland etc so I can call it mediaeval? It is, after all, based on their Catholic faith so the description fits.

And the other countries (a quick Google suggests Mozambique is better than it was, but still limited compared to the UK...) where abortion is more easily available than here may have gone too far the other way. Personally I think the balance in the UK is about right.

And look at where the (still) predominately Catholic country, Ireland, has moved on abortion - compared to a significant part of the UK (Northern Ireland).

Farmers in Iowa have spoken to CNN regarding what Trump’s battles on the trade front have done to their livelihoods. Some of them said outright that they regret their 2016 votes for Trump.

Larry Angler is one such farmer. According to what he told CNN, he could lose nearly $100,000 in 2019. That problem was exacerbated by flooding in the area as well. When reporters inquired about whether or not Mr. Angler voted for Trump in 2016, he responded thusly:

“I did — I’ll never vote for him again!”

Robert Ewoldt is another farmer from Iowa. He is now driving a truck at night due to the way the trade war has affected his farming business. He said of his truck driving job:

“That’s what’s keeping this farm going.”
Ewoldt also said that he regretted voting for Trump in the last presidential election cycle.

Not content with his approach that 'windmills give you cancer' trumps now claiming there are piles of dead bald eagles underneath them.

“You want to see a bird cemetery? Go under a windmill sometime,” the president ranted. “You will see the saddest, you got every type of bird. You know, in California you go to jail for five years if you kill a bald eagle. You go under a windmill, you see them all over the place. Not a good situation.”

With talks of another bailout for farmers due to China trade tarrifs, its worth taking a look at how much of the $12bn from the last payout has been made. $8.5bn so far

https://www.axios.com/trump-china-trade-war-us-far...
Just read something - the $8.5bn paid out so far has cost every US citizen $27 each so far, they've a $12bn fund from last year and trump is talking another $15bn, so it'll cost every us citizen almost $100 for trumps trade war with China just from bailing out the farmers alone.
So that in reality will cost those that pay tax (not trump biggrin) a lot more than that - before they even get to the tariffs on goods themselves

Haha that is utter bullst. We have loads of windmills near us up in the hills and sometimes I run around them. They're a bit eerie when you're right next to one but I can't say I've ever seen a dead bird underneath one.

The White House’s position on Congress’s authority to investigate President Trump, it seems, is that it has none. A federal judge practically laughed at Trump’s attorney Monday when he made that argument, but White House counsel Pat Cipollone has now doubled down.

“Congressional investigations are intended to obtain information to aid in evaluating potential legislation,” Cipollone wrote to House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jerry Nadler (D-N.Y.) on Tuesday, “not to harass political opponents or to pursue an unauthorized ‘do-over’ of exhaustive law enforcement investigations conducted by the Department of Justice.”

The same OLC memo that argues a sitting president cannot be indicted also acknowledges Congress's "investigatory powers" as a remedy for not being able to indict.
Might be a problem for Trump's legal claim that Congress can't investigate him.

And then she

It's a common anti-green myth - the venn diagram of anti-green and far-right is almost a perfect circle. You see it on the Power Generation and Climate threads on here regularly.

They're actually wind turbines not windmills as there is no milling process but expecting Trump to know or care about correct terminology and, well, science, is optimistic at best
