My French is shameful, but my (no Google translate assistance) grasp of it say: "how do you govern a country with 246 types of cheese?"
Which is very, very amusing. A wonderful quote, not one I'd heard before.
The UK has over 700 types of cheese... Which is very, very amusing. A wonderful quote, not one I'd heard before.

I am a huge cheese fan, but there is no way we have more types of cheese than France.

The UK May produce 750 different cheeses, but how many are cheddar, for example?
France produces many more varieties than the UK.

As Charles de Gaulle famously said. - Comment voulez-vous gouverner un pays qui a deux cent quarante-six variétés de fromage?
It would have no doubt annoyed him to be told that the UK has more varieties of cheese than France.Having scrolled through the rest of the thread, I see I'm not alone in my national cheese pride.
P.s. Macron's lack of eclat can be addressed for a few thousand in the Lotus pages of Pistonheads' classified ads, though it's debatable whether it's easier to get a Lotus working or a French striker.
