Theresa May has promised Tory MPs she will stand down if they back her EU withdrawal deal.

She'll step aside when the deal passes? Aren't there rules against declaring yourself Prime minister in perpetuity?

I’m amazed anyone, even in the Tory party, would believe her.
She had her fingers crossed, will weasel out of it & cling on as long as she can (Labour want her there to prolonge their agony, so won’t call a no confidence vote)

It would be ridiculous if all the MPs who have maintained that her deal was a pile of crap suddenly had a change of mind and voted for it just to get rid of her.

So much for them having principles.

With her wanting out and with no clear instruction from Parliament today all I can see is a GE and then more of the same. Never mind all the oldies dying off leaving the young to Vote the Young will become the Oldies at the current rate of "progress".

Surely, if this goes on, someone like Macron is finally just going to snap and pull the plug?

That's if Macron isn't lynched by his own disgruntled civilians first...

Johnson said exactly that, fking unbelievable. Not that it matters now anyway, the DUP have positioned themselves above her offer and curled one out on top of it, effectively leaving her with only one option - to drag the lectern out by herself into Downing Street and do the honourable thing.

Parliament have made May look competent. At least she was wiling to agree something with the EU.

You mean in the manner that you "agree" something with Big Bubba when you've dropped the soap in the prison shower?

I think very few come out of this looking good all of course my own opinion which is as worthwhile / worthless as anyone else's
Mrs May - gambled away a viable small majority and this led to endless peculation about her position. This emboldened leadership candidates to be the subject of ongoing and boring speculation. Came up with a deal that didn't really appeal to anyone. It also gave far more importance to the DUP than IMO they deserve(d)
The DUP - behaved as senior partners at times and appeared greedy promoted way beyond their importance
Jeremy Corbyn - Seemed unable, unwilling to give much of a clear indication of his position. His tactic was to say whatever the tories came back with was crap but never really came up with something in its place
Jacob Rees Mogg - Initially presented as quirky eccentric incredibly polite and patient. Now he just seems another oily untrustworthy politician
John Bercow. has been smug discourteous superior and agin IMO is the very very worse face of modern politics. I believe he has done great harm to how politicians and parliament are viewed and has damaged respect

About the only god thing about Diane Abbot is that she has been rather quiet on the whole about it - which is probably for the best less chance of making mistakes. If there is a GE then I wonder what part she will play I would think her appearances would be minimal.

All a bit odd. The conservatives/dup have a majority but our jezza in the opposition keeps getting name checked for all the brexit misery.
Lets just concentrate on beating up on May and her party.
