I’ve many better things to do than argue with angry middle aged men on Internet forums, but I’ve occasionally read this thread to keep my finger on the deranged gammon pulse that has sent our country temporarily insane for a year or two.

My conclusion is as follows: the poster known as The Dangerous Elk is actually a large ponderous bovine creature of the genus Cervus canadensis who has somehow learnt how to use a keyboard to enlighten us with his educated and balanced pearls of socio-political wisdom.

I doubt very much if he’s dangerous though, apart from, quite obviously, to himself.
Good post laugh

Better things to do than argue? You made quite a debut to this thread:

The Doyle said:
Brexiters: We want brexit to get our parliamentary sovereignty back.

CJEU: Please use your parliamentary sovereignty to decide if you want to revoke Article 50.

Brexiters: Blue passports, will of the people, bendy bananas blah blah blah.
I wonder who 'The Doyle' was previously?

If you are interested in the opinion of someone that really knows what they are talking about, then put the kettle on, make a big pot of Fair Trade coffee and read Sir Ivan Rogers Brexit transcript

I've read it - conclusion I came to was "all out" or "all in" are the only two clear ways forward

I'm OK with "all out" just as if the Referendum result had been to Remain I would have been OK with "all in"

fking about on the side lines ignoring that the EU wants to move towards a European "superstate" and using opt out or veto arrangements to frustrate the movement or slow down the process is just not a way forward for me that I can feel comfortable with.

Seems to be lots of confusion about what the CTC is on here. It is not 'frictionless trade' and it doesn't remove the need for customs checks.

It simply means you only need to fill in one set of customs forms, and pay one set of tariffs, if you are importing and exporting via multiple countries in the CTC.

If we hadn't signed up and you wanted to export something to Turkey via the EU, you would have to fill in EU and Turkish customs forms and pay tariffs when you crossed into the EU customs border and again when you crossed the Turkish border.

There are a number of non EU countries in the CTC, and it won't do anything about the backstop.

No, many Leavers have expressed wanting to leave the EU based upon a belief, incorrect in my view, that the EU is holding the UK back, retarding the ability to trade more effectively.

So the customs union and associated tariffs are a figment of our imagination?
I can't be bothered debating with these Cake and eat it expats ,Had my cousin wining on about
brexit last night , they live and work in France and are just about to retire, the nub of it was 100% selfish
wanting the benefits of swanning about not putting anyting back into the UK or caring about the people of the UK
just being free to come back to sponge on the NHS when they are old and decrepit ..
He will be better off staying there rather than come back to the disaster zone that the NHS is turning into due to brexit.

Completely get that, but…

If we can’t achieve full GTF Brexit, then I’ll take as a fall-back position exactly where we are just now (or, where we were three years ago).

At least that way we get to play our cards all over again a little bit further down the road. In the best of good faith, obviously.

Just like our 'partners'.

I can completely get that too but.....

I think the chances of any Government offering the option of a referendum on membership of the EU inside 20 years is frankly very unlikely so we are going to locked in with all that it potentially entails......

So I'd like the GTF Brexit - HoC seem not so keen biggrin
