He's been guest of honour of some pretty dubious organisations in the past (shared top billing with Richard Spencer at one), plus has retweeted AfD on occasion. Not saying that makes him a fascist or justifies throwing things at him, but it's interesting company to keep. He's certainly not liberal on many social issues, and I'd imagine what you decide to label him relies heavily on whether you find yourself in a group he's continuously voted to deny freedoms or not.

Indeed. If he was a laissez-faire liberal then presumably he would be less interested in what consenting adults get up to in the bedroom and whether or not women chose to have abortions.
