OH looking for a new gaming PC, so looking for suggestions on where to get one. Currys have naff all in stock after the Xmas rush.
Looking at probably an i5, 16Gb RAM,6GB 1060 graphics, smallish SSD,2TB HDD, ethernet & WiFi,,& usual keyboard/mouse gubbins. Monitor already sorted.
Where might be the best place to get that online? Any suggested tweaks or alterations?
Budget=£1000-1100 ISH
Thanks

Would you consider building one? It is honestly very easy these days, especially with all the available Youtube guides, and most find it a fun experience.

What is the specification of the monitor you have? 1080p, 1440p or 4k?

To be honest,I probably could do a self build, but would rather get someone who knows what they are doing ... see my other thread on ethernet issues for my lack of ability biggrin
Monitor is 1440 off the top of my head

Depends on where you are.

Got a old PC for sale.
i7 4770k, 16GB DDR3, 512GB SSD space (need to double check that bit), win 10.
Should have an old GPU I can add as well.

I think you’ll want at least a GTX 1070 (or AMD equivalent) to get decent fps at 1440p (obviously depending on the game).

The following suggestion is quite different to your wish list - https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/list/C78YCb

I think the Ryzen 5 2600X is the best bang for the buck at the moment, significantly cheaper than the equivalent i5. AMD have really upped their game and are currently giving Intel serious competition. The system is overclockable, but would perfectly fast enough without any tweeking to run good very well. The GTX 1070ti will easily cope with 1440p. I very much doubt you’ll find a pre-built system that will offer the same performance for anywhere near the same money.

Do you even need a gaming rig these days?

https://shadow.tech/gben

Cloud Gaming on any device, all you need is a decent internet connection and the game software license.

£26.95/month which works out at £1,293.60 over 4 years which is about what you are pricing up.

And after 3 years or less you will probably be looking at upgrading something....

Certainly something to consider...

While this is all promising tech, there's a couple of things:

  1. Your latency is dependent on how far you are away from them, so that's an important check.
  2. Your calculation might sound correct, but it doesn't give you a powerful pc. If it was a console, I'd agree, but a PC does much more than just game, and for a gaming pc, everyday tasks are a breeze.
  3. As per 2, you'd still need a (simple) system to run it.

Overclockers have some decent value looking systems.

Alas I have about 10% of the net speed required for that cloud set up,thanks to BT not bothering to upgrade their proxy cabinet fully.
I will try overclockers later.
@pigdoguk, sadly being female, she wants a new one, because shiney! Yeah, I know! getmecoat

Mesh too have a good configuration screen, try this one - https://www.meshcomputers.com/custom-desktop-pcs/y...
Add a GPU and you are there or change other bits.

Or go back to the menu for others like this - https://www.meshcomputers.com/custom-gaming-pcs/in...

As well as a graphics card, it would be worth adding some more ram, a hard disk/ssd and also a power supply.

Yes, the link didn't capture what I had already added. It was just under £1000 the options I put in, different case too. I forgotten what I had added and what was already there or not there when I posted the link.

Didn't want it arriving and him telling his other half its easy to set up, then after she's spent a few hours trying, he gets home and it has no power supply, biggrinrofl.

I would definitely recommend building one if you have any desire to do so--you will end up with a much better machine!

Disagree. OP, spec up a custom build at somewhere like PCSpecialist and I’ll bet it’s less than 50 quid more than building yourself with the same parts - they are bulk-buying components at a discount. For that it will be a very tidy build internally, fully tested, come with a warranty and be guaranteed to perform out of the box. And you’ll only have to wait in for one delivery.

I build my own gaming machines because I can, but I would never claim to end up with a much better machine for a given spend
