The speed limit on the stretch of road where the Duke of Edinburgh was involved in a car crash is expected to be reduced at a council meeting later.

...

Norfolk County Council was already due to discuss safety issues on the road before the crash took place.

The authority is expected to lower the maximum speed limit from 60mph to 50mph and approve installing average speed cameras on the road.

There were 40 accidents, five of which were fatal, on the A149, which is the main route to the Norfolk coast, in the six years from 2012-2018.

A council report recommends lowering the maximum speed limit and installing average speed cameras along the road between the Knights Hill roundabout and Snettisham - an idea originally proposed in 2015.

The average speed camera system would cover the A149 from the junction with the A148, about two and a half miles south of the crash scene, to Snettisham, six miles to the north.

Wonder what insurance the duke has. Royal and Son Alliance?
If he wasn't it wouldn't be the first time he's spent a night at her Majesty's pleasure.
Yes, it'll be the fifth time...

Don't think so. The number plate was pixellated but looked longer than that. Don't know why he wouldn't have been in OXR though

Something fishy about this!!

A 78 year old barrister no less, (not barista) was they guy that pulled him from the car, "through the sunroof", (fk me it must have been like Cocoon during an earthquake).

And the barrister says he had "the princes blood on my hands".
And yet Phil the Greek was "uninjured"?

Who opened the sunroof, or does the car do it itself when it is on its side? I'm thinking there was definitely someone else in the car, and the mention of blood (by a barrister), would suggest someone in the Freelander was injured. If it wasn't Phil...…..? And why no mention of him / her?

Do you think the witness is lying about the blood? Is it not quite likely that a 97 year old man who's been in a car shoved onto it's side (possibly rolled over, too), had some injuries? And is it possible there was someone else in the car with him? Indeed, is that not quite likely?

Very likely to have had a protection officer in the vehicle or, if not, then in a following vehicle

Quite likely to have a few cuts and bruises as a result of the vehicle being put on it's side

Very unlikely that 100% of the facts about the accident and the aftermath will become generally known anytime soon

imo

No, no, just answer. Who's not telling the whole truth? The witness? Or do you mean the blood was from somewhere else? Maybe they carry a spare bag of it in the glovebox in case he, you know, rolls the Freelander?
How do you explain what is being reported, because I cannot. The witness report today seems to be at odds with other reports released yesterday.
Do you think Philip was alone in the car?

Or are you going to deflect answering again by trying to be a smartarse?
