At least theyre changing their tune on the so called safety cameras

At the meeting - arranged before the duke's crash - it agreed to cut the speed limit on the road from 60mph to 50mph, bring in average speed cameras and make improvements to road junctions.

Maybe they'll realise the greatest gain is from improvements to the road and junctions, and if the speed limit is right the cameras wont be able to raise any money to pay for themselves

This may have shot them in the foot

Police and Crime Commissioner Lorne Green asked: "How many accidents could have been avoided if the cameras had been installed when approval was given?
erm - probably none

He’s admitted liability, perhaps he’ll hang up his driving licence. Silly old fart.

So you should be, insulting the Queen's Consort like that.

Let's hear no more of it.

It’s not an insult, it’s a statement of fact. And whilst we’re at it, let’s get that referendum on the Royals going biggrin

In the reign of the Queen you'd get nowhere I reckon. When Charles ascends would be your moment.

Well it looks like it won’t go 50/50 on the insurance now.

Regal&General are probably hopping mad that he’s admitted liability...

Think of all the grovelling royalists and flunkys that have never even made eye contact with the duke. They must be seething and working out how to be injured by him in some way to gain a brief moment of validation.

Didn't someone mention earlier that she was a royalty groupie, who would regularly had around outside the church that they attended in the hope of catching a glimpse of them? If that's the case I would imagine that it will be framed and in pride of place somewhere.

Thank goodness I read that. I retire later this year and was going to treat myself to an RS4. To think of the trouble I could have got into if not for your wise counsel.

After being finally stripped of his license it was down to my arthritic mother to control access to the car keys (his car and her own), a very difficult situation made worse when the person with dementia is physically larger and stronger than others. This eventually resulted in him being sectioned. I cannot complain as in the end the NHS picked up the bill for his 5 years of care at a BUPA facility.
A friend of my parents who was banned from driving due to Alzheimers took the keys to his wifes car and went out for a drive. 30 minutes and a 5 car shunt later he stopped. ultimately he wasnt charged with any offence as incapable of thinking correctly. His wife now has to hide the car keys.

Yes that had definitely been mentioned previously. Seems she got what she wants, given that she was "chuffed" that he took the time to write to her, and signed it "Philip" rather than "HRH The Duke of Edinburgh" or similar.

I'm glad of course that neither she, nor the other occupants in the car, nor the Duke, were seriously injured in the crash.
