I wanted to get a valuation for a car with some defects (without wasting a dealers time) and the usual suspects that I know of are not giving the option (on my smartphone ) to input details of known defects as the valuation is likely to be on the high side.

So is there a "we buyanycar' type site that allows defects to be included in the valuation, as I can't get said site to play ball.

Fair Valuation needed for HMRC IHT purposes, so car probably worth more to a family member than a car dealer, given orange overspray & pan scourer used to take said overspray off a couple of panels (don't ask how it got there - lol) as well as the odd light scoring, but don't want to get on wrong side of HMRC under any circumstances.

Not on the wbac site and their app, which I've tried, looked everywhere that I can think of.

Cant you supply a (juicy) quote from a body shop for the rectification and deduct it from the regular quote from WBAC ?

Take it to WBAC & let them offer you 50p for the car. This is likely to be the lowest valuation but at least it will be provable should HMRC query it & not a guessing game.
OR
Look for identical cars on Autotrader & see what money is being asked. Probably the highest prices.
OR
Find someone with access to Glass's & opt for the poor condition. Likely to be in the middle.

Id simply go on Autotrader and look for similar age/condition cars and try Parkers free valuation or if you can try Glasses guide - trade price should keep HMRC happy.

As long as you aren't taking the mick depreciating a £30k vehicle to a fiver I wouldn't worry;)

Is there likely to be an IHT bill to pay?

Input your details then when it comes up with a price it says “view vehicle assumptions and make changes”. Add in the damage.

From experience HMRC are not bothered about cars, at least not everyday run of the mill ones, maybe a vintage Ferrari. Just input a very realistic even slightly on the low side valuation and it will not be queried.
