I think this is nothing more than truancy.

I'd like to think the local authorities would fine the parent of every child not in 'skool' today biggrin

I see it the opposite. I just ended up in the throng outside the Department for Business in Westminster and think the whole thing is great. Young people not being sheep and just copying their parents way of thinking. And inspired by a 15/16 year old girl. Fab.

Was their first lesson hypocrisy?

This morning, I cycled past the usual hoards of stationary, over-sized, emission-cheating, 4x4s loaded with mums queuing to discharge their offspring outside the school gate.

Air pollution is always someone else’s problem to solve. it is, of course, the man in the mirror that needs to change.

Seems very sheep-like to me, it's all well and good holding a banner demanding something must be done, but how many of them are prepared to drastically alter their own life style? If we proposed a ban on mobile phones or tablets because of the environmental impact of their construction, how many would be in favour?

You also don't have to look far to see that for most it's not about saving the planet, but the usual bunch of hard-left agitators wanting to bash the tories, as evidenced by the picture a few posts up, or stuff like this.

haha,..same here,i cycle past a private prep school which is in a dead end road, how I shake my head in dismay at watching range rovers and Porsche cayennes doing what can only be described as some sort of weird synchronised dancing as they attempt 3 point turns to leave all getting in each others way.

I think we know the answer. Although to be fair, it's not just the socialists, now it's the billionaire airline owners who are getting in on the act.

I assume his fleet will be grounded tomorrow.

Ask Porsche, Mercedes, BMW and Audi sales managers, ask travel agency staff about long hauil flight bookings, ask central heating engineers.

Engage the kids for brief chat to listen to what they have to say and you'll get polly parrot indoctrination if you're lucky. Save the planet bill hooks. I don't stir the pot in schools because there's no point and it would be inappropriate / unprofesional but as I visit primary and secondary schools frequently due to working with charitable education trusts I can offer witness testimony to the above.

Asking meaningful questions of adult Greenpeace and FoE protesters outside IPCC climate beanfeasts is a waste of time, see 'Monckton'.

Primary school children are being needlessly frightened about the future

It's all a government distraction technique from the impending social crisis that the baby-boomers have left us with.

It's like baby boomers are trying to distract from the fact that everything is their fault; housing crisis, populist politics, rise in cost of Freddos and environmental mismanagement.

But they're focusing on the one thing that they can claim is everyone else's fault.
sleep
You really don't like baby-boomers do you?
Good.
You missed a fking great period in time! laugh
Yet most of us grew up on council estates. But you (un-informed prats) would never understand that. We weren't left piles of cash from the properties of our parents, unlike many of today's generation will be. We went without, but rarely, if ever, moaned.
Today, in comparison, is brimming to overload with the 'moaning generation of know-it-alls'.

Will you ever stop?
Probably.
When you realise life is shorter than you ever imagined. byebye

Perhaps your "explanation" wasn't very good.

I saw a group of some 20 kids in local village this morning. As soon as it started raining, they took refuge in Costa. A while later, there was a procession of Range Rovers, Porsche Cayennes etc coming to pick the little dears up......
