Yet she'd recused herself from the case a month ago - https://chicago.suntimes.com/news/kim-foxx-jussie-...
All very Why would the Obamas and their legacy want to go anywhere near that? Disappointing.
'Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel and police officials were openly critical of the decision by prosecutors to drop charges against Jussie Smollett earlier today.'

So his lawyer is saying it was the two Nigerian brothers who attacked him, but at first he said it was two white men. I thought he'd been consistent since day one?

i am surprised at the surprise on here people seem to be having with the absolute fact that the justice system in the america functions the same way business works in the less well regulated countries around the globe. the more money and connections you have , the more justice you can get . around 95% of cases are dealt with by plea bargain, anyone that thinks their system has any relevance to even the wildest definition of justice is a complete fking moron.
will be interesting to see what backlash there is on the back of this.
will there be other charges?
Will FBI pursue him for mail fraud (or whatever the charges would be for sending himself fake hate mail and powder in an envelope )
Will his career be toast?
And did his aunt and/or Michelle Obama’s ex chief of staff meddle / interfere with the District Attorney office?
It’s like a soap opera .... oh wait..

Green privilege Although I guess we're no different. Many at the top of society seem immune to punishment whereas those at the middle and bottom will feel the full force of the law
Kimberly Foxx did an interview where she says
-she recused herself at an early stage when Smollett was still treated as a victim (I read somewhere the concern there was that the Police were leaking information and they wanted it moved to the FBI. From what little I know of US alw enforcement, you don't usually want the FBI involved when you can have the local Police). AFAIK those discussions were never about dropping the case.
- the option he got was open to anyone is similar circumstance and 5600 others have had it as an alternative to prosecution - I suppose its a bit similar to an out of court disposal liek we have in the UK (cautions).
I agree to an extent that if he was innocent he should have not paid the 10,000- but would you rather pay 10,000 and get away from a possible 48 years in jail or take the risk?

"in this country people are innocent until proven guilty " ha ha. eh no you idiot, that is not how it works for over 95% of cases in your country. people are accused of something, then threatened with a long sentence unless they plead guilty and avoid a trial. then they get a short sentence and get to provide free ,or sub two quid a day at best, labour to one of many companies that lobby to ensure the system continues as is. corrupt doesn't even scratch the surface.https://www.peoplesworld.org/article/corporations-...

just in case of any doubt the idiot i am referring to is in the article linked by dudleybloke.
