We make our own sourdough, much nicer than that supermarket stuff. Especially after all the laudanum we put in it.

There was something on one of the BBC food programmes where they got a vicar to eat some poppy seed bagels and he failed a drug test too.

This is a thing.

This has been going on forever with foods containing poppy seeds.

However knowing a few country vicars he would likely have failed the alcohol and coke tests as well.

He would have been toast without any dough to support his family but at least he can go back to earning a crust now that the company have reinstated him. Maybe they'll give him a rise by way of an apology?

All the staff where I work are subjected to random drug tests. The testers are usually in for a week at a time, so when they appear certain people have been know to eat poppy seeded bread. This gets them sent home on full pay for two weeks until a retest is done.

It happened to me a few years ago during my work medical. I failed the test twice in one day and then was sent to a different medical centre and scraped the third. I was gutted as I was suspended on full pay for all of one hour. Lidl Seeded Batch was the culprit. My old gaffer failed his medical/drugs test due to having a poppy seed bagel at the airport on the morning of his test.

Certainly healthier than his previous diet of battered lard.
