Is this homophobia dressed up as parents' rights?
Discussion
Four more schools in Birmingham have stopped teaching about LGBT rights following complaints by parents. Leigh Trust said it was suspending the No Outsiders programme until an agreement with parents was reached.

Showing your ignorance/bias there.
Plenty of this going on in Christian countries.
Either way, we're an English, Christian country and if they dont want to be taught then its up to the parents.I didnt want to do art back in the 90's but there was no getting out of that, amazing how times change.Plenty of this going on in Christian countries.

You see, we don't believe in homosexuality. But that does not make us homophobic, you know; we respect individuals as human beingsI don't understand how people can hold their tongue when they hear this st. Why does anyone allow this to go unchallenged?
What do you fking mean you don't believe in homosexuality? It's demonstrable, it's not debatable whether it fking exists or not. The man is a cretin and a homophobe.
I'm with the parents on this one. The assistant head's CV is - previously left a Christian school over this sort of issue, gets a gong for "diversity in education", and now takes the fight to the Muslims in Birmingham. It just looks like a campaign targeting children. It is the job of head teachers in primary schools to prevent that, not organize it!
And shaming the Muslims as "backwards" would be racist if it was anyone else doing it. Hypocrisy and the Left!

I don’t really want my small children told about transsexuals at school. Why would I want them confused with all that at a young age
How the trans community has managed to tag along with gay rights I don’t know, they are not the same thing at all IMO

This posts demonstrates that this is not just an issue with Muslims and that many conservative people support these parents. How the trans community has managed to tag along with gay rights I don’t know, they are not the same thing at all IMO

Yes sadly we are still a Christian country. There are plenty of Christians in this country who don’t even like teaching about same sex relationships, they get away with it using what can be best described as a loop hole.I remember the JW in my class being removed by his parents from sex ed classes.
It is not really up to the parents, not unless they wish to home school and even then they are obliged to demonstrate they are educating their children.

"[the program] is telling us it's ok to be gay and muslim"
What annoys me about this statement is that country, and indeed world, wide, there are Muslims who are struggling with their sexuality who will be knocked back by phrases such as this (effectively saying it is impossible to be both). It's fine to be both, and I hope, for their sakes, that they can be character strong and rise above this. Gassing Station | News, Politics & Economics | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
