Assuming that to be a correct lift from the legislation then I find it frightening that the Home Secretary has the power to remove citizenship with only “reasonable grounds to believe” that a person could get citizenship elsewhere. By the same token my son could have citizenship removed as my FIL is from Ulster so he could claim Irish citizenship.
We are not a despot dictatorship, the key word is accountability, the PM could overrule it.They is too much what ifs on this thread which I I guess is being used to detract from the real issue. All this was done, because the security services and experts deemed anyone that does what she does, is deemed a VERY high risk to the general public, a high probability she would inflict harm on normal people.
So why not disagree with this statement, because after all this is the crux of the reason the HS did what he did..

She looks a bit Ziva David in thathttps://www.mirror.co.uk/news/uk-news/isis-bride-s...
If she hurries back quickly she could get protesting at these Sarah Vigils. I'm sure some of the attendees will cheer her on

Perhaps there's a lesson in here.https://www.mirror.co.uk/news/uk-news/isis-bride-s...
When she had all the benefits of life in a liberal western democracy she chose to ditch them for the life of an Islamic fundamentalist nutter.
Now that the benefits have been taken away she is going out of her way to show how she is sane and reasonable after all.

Daily Telegraph did the same and today there's another article about someone who claims she can de radicalise her, but that could only be done in the UK.https://www.mirror.co.uk/news/uk-news/isis-bride-s...
I never want her back on these shores.

Worse, removing her citizenship makes "us" look weak, lacking confidence in our democracy and institutions to deal with a young lady who made a terrible decision as a 15 year old.
Only to the sort of tosser who’s looking all day long for any reason to do the UK down.Edited by Octoposse on Thursday 4th March 22:50

Maybe so, just pointing out that the point raised above works both ways, and it's daft.
Who's head did she chop off?
It doesn’t work both ways. It’s perfectly consistent to say that at sixteen you are too young to understand the complexities of government but ok’d enough to know that murdering gays and selling children as sex slaves is wrong.Who's head did she chop off?
It is completely unreasonable to argue that at fifteen you have no idea that burning prisoners to death in cages is wrong but that a year later you are equipped to understand the finer points of economic management.

You’re missing one really quite important fact here though, which is that unless your son is planning on joining a genocidal death cult to take wage war on the UK then no-one’s going to be trying to remove his citizenship.Gassing Station | News, Politics & Economics | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
