Maybe you could address his questions then.
I'm not going to so crack on unless you have something else to ask me.

I went on Breibart to read what the vox pop was on this over there, it did not surprise me.

1. The PM is an emotional woman and women should not be in politics.
2. They are less safe now.

This from a country giving advice with 5x the murder rate and the most emotional male President ever

silly

Gave me a belly laugh anyhow.
Isn't it worrying how people purposefully DO NOT seek out alternative views? They're just not interested in testing the facts or theories and only accept what falls within their bias/doctrine. It's like self brain washing. Number one thing I learned in my latter years of education was critical thinking. It's a hard skill to teach but starts with having an open mind. You need to get out of your own way.

Jacinda Arden has been magnificent. She's bought NZ together and has been a role model to all world leaders. The world lacks compassion and thinks tyrants and dictators (incidentally those Trump admires) can win with brute first. Surely this line of thought is anti freedom.

Surely freedom is being able to democratically vote in Trump, not digging for morsels to try and overturn it?
If the people want Trump who you say admires tyrants, then surely that's freedom?

From what i read on Sky my understanding is the firearms affected, out of a total of over 1million, amount to less than 20,000?
Poor reporting I'm afraid. There are currently around 15,000 MSSA category firearms registered, which is what they were probably referring to - however the govt have just recategorised many other semi-automatics as well that were previously not in that category, and they really only have the vaguest idea how many there are because until today they weren't restricted firearms. Estimates from the firearms community and shooting organisations are that the number will be into the hundreds of thousands.
It did seem rather low, thanks for the correction smile

the two things aren’t mutually exclusive. In fact, the ability to do the latter, unfettered by restrictions or ranting, is precisely one of the indicators of both freedom and a healthy democracy.

She's said some nice words and managed to walk the line to avoid inflaming the situation (NZ came together before she said anything, she can't take credit for that) but she's also been reactionary rather than proactive, has taken minimal responsibility for any failures of governmental departments that could have prevented it from happening, and is valuing speed of reaction over due process and consultation to make sure any law changes are done right.

I get that. Their place of worship, their rules. same when you enter a Synagogue. This isn't a place of worship, neither was the Prime Minister in such a place but wore a Hijab. If they were consistent in showing the same tolerance it would be fine and dandy but they don't. I'm pondering how I feel about it.
50 people just got murdered by a fascist white kid. Showing some respect and solidarity at their funerals is a bloody awful thing to consider criticising.

She’s the worst PM the country has had in a long time. Her performance is just that.

At a cemetery, not a mosque. She was guarding the first of the victims’ funerals this week. Wearing the scarf as a mark of respect. Entirely her choice.

No idea where you got the Arabic thing from, it clearly says “Police” in English.

How is she supposed to take responsibility for those supposed failures before it's been established what they are, if there have indeed been any at all?

The cynic in me can't help but see a really nice photo-op for the NZ government, just as it's about to pass some legislation that is going to annoy a lot of people.
In that regard it’s been handed to them on a plate.

But in reality the Jacinda you see is more genuine than not, the rest of the world has just become too jaded.

I’ve seen her at a couple of formal occasions, she’ll chat and joke with the normal people, completely natural. Her husband is a media personality as well, but you’d bump into him in the street and he’s be up for a chat. The previous prime minister, John Key, lives in my suburb, see him regularly walking around and at local cafes. That sort of stuff doesn’t happen in many places these days, it’s incredibly down to earth.

The stuff you’ve seen with women wearing veils and all the other acts of empathy are just Kiwis being Kiwis. There is no submission or takeover by Islam.

In fact, the way Jacinda has handled this has been more productive for Islam/Western relations than anything else in done in the past 30 years by all the middle-aged, warmongering white men.

She has effectively de-escalated the whole thing, look at the comments from Muslims on social media - a marked lack of aggression with lots of them thankful for the tolerance. Her actions have very possibly minimized potential revenge attacks.

You are far too level-headed and objective to be posting such good stuff on PH... your PM has demonstrated utmost leadership in recent days, and - as you say - achieved more with the grace of simply listening, and acting in response - than most red-faced idiots here could ever aspire to.

And I wish you & your wonderful Nation ATB.
