Why admonish yourself and feel a bit ashamed? There's nothing you can do to change your brain's mating criteria - is there? It's the choices you make that matter, and if you've made the right choice when confronted with new information that corrects a previous misinterpretation, what's there to feel bad about?

I like bums, sometimes my eyes land on the bum before I've fully processed what I'm looking at. On several occasions I've checked out a cyclists arse before realising they're a bloke (I'm not interested in blokes) - it doesn't make me feel ashamed or bad at all really, it's the same thing. Our eyes are pretty crappy instruments

Yet I still know how to show restraint and am baffled by the idea someone can think a 12 year old is over 16 to the extent that it might mean trying it on with them. Whether someone looks older on Instagram or even in person is a small part of the issue as far as I can see.

Slightly different scenario but I have a good friend who at the age of 18 met someone who turned out to be 15. Doesn't sound great but he is now 24 and she is 21 and they're engaged which is perfectly acceptable. Not sure im trying to make point or anything but just worth noting the whole 16 and shes good to go seems slightly weird though I do accept we have to draw a line somewhere. But that line is drawn differently all over the world and in the Philippines it would have been perfectly legal for the 28 year old with the 12 year old (although I will go on record as saying I don't agree with that in the slightest). Certain examples seem to be more acceptable when on paper it should all be the same.

a very good example of a 13 y/o looking older than she was. What's sickening about this case is that (IIRC) he knew her age also her mother knew and was ok with it too

I know of a couple like that, but more extreme. He was about 30 and she was 16. He's now about 50 and they've got their 7th(!) kid on the way.

I met them when she was late twenties, it's worked out perfectly for them, although the future is going to be interesting. He'll be getting on for 70 by the time his (current) youngest is an adult.

Still, it's fking weird!

maybe you're right and there is a degree of unconscious racism there - but to draw a few differences:

1 - we're talking about individual people rather than gangs
2 - in some of the cases on here we're talking about mistaken age
3 - in the case of the gangs there seems to have been a tactic of targeting youngsters knowing they were school-children

Being rich and famous can smooth things over it seems, certainly did in the past, Michael Jackson had young boys in his bed with the parents blessing, or at least was left alone with them.

Makes you wonder how many folk who are normally vehemently against anything of that ilk can have their heads turned when money, power and fame are involved.

Well the police referred to them as prostitutes. Many of the girls started out as girlfriends of one of them, at least they clung onto the belief they were girlfriends...

Many turned out to be under 16 but I imagine if a few girls rock up at 12pm at a kebab shop and getting drunk you'd mauve have a case for thinking they were over 16 at least... Same as this bloke we are discussing, hence my point ...

Why should an Asian bloke be better at telling if someone is under 16 than a white bloke??
