To stop 'over-breeding' we have to address the issues amongst populations that have more than 2 kids on average per couple. <clip> Oh - and change Catholic contraceptive dogma.

Simples.
It's not just believers in catholicism that typically have more than 2 children, other religions seem to encourage it. Perhaps the answer is to consign religion to the middle ages.

I hesitated to add that - I'm not sure whether it's encouraged or cultural or due to the predominance of poverty in those particular sandy and dusty places.

Sorry, I realised that perhaps you didn't want to say that, and I don't know if it's encouraged or just cultural but the fact remains that some beliefs seem to have families with 4 or 5 kids.

If the true (properly bad) effects of global warming will become reality in, say, 90 years then surely most of the protesters will be dead by then anyway ?

The best thing people can do is stop breeding. Then the problem will self correct and Earth will be fine - just without humans on it.

We are the problem. I'm afraid us stopping pro-creating is the ONLY solution. The planet is screwed otherwise. Are we smart enough that we would do that for the sake of the planet ? It really is that simple.

Planet without us would be in a better state of equilibrium but does that mean it is a better planet long term?

I think the Police and council workers should go home and leave them stuck to whatever building they attached themselves to. Maybe after 15 hours, some rain and a need for the toilet, they might be begging to be released.

Then make them sign an invoice promising to cover costs for disruption and extrication.

I suddenly had a comical image of the dinosaurs having the same conversation then one of them says,

"Oh look another sun has appeared",.....

We’re the best chance life has of escaping this rock. Whether that is good or bad or neither.

The more I look at humanity the more I seen us as sort of the mammal version of ebola. Far to successful in terms of harnessing available resources and combating threats.

Viruses can be to successful for their own good killing the host before finding another. I think ultimately that's what will happen to us. We will thrive on our own small little planet for a short time just as ebola does in some Africa village. Killing most of its inhabitants just to disappear because it's ran out of people to use.

i can see your point for years population growth has been managed by

- disease

- war

In this modern word - disease is being put back in it's box and war hijacked by the pin point accuracy of guided bombs

We really needed Ebola to be a proper evil bh - turns out we were too clever too soon or it was a chesty cough

To stop 'over-breeding' we have to address the issues amongst populations that have more than 2 kids on average per couple.

The reasons they do this are: 1. infant mortality 2. future parental care 3. educational/religious/contraception 4. child labour, so it exists primarily in developing countries rather than the west - over-breeding slows the richer you are, as then you get more betterer educated, better health care, a welfare system, exploitation laws/wage rises etc.

So on one hand we want to dismantle the capitalist system (as per Extinction] and on the other introduce it to the bottom 40 countries (meaning using more resources that we want to stop using...).

Oh - and change Catholic contraceptive dogma.

Simples.
Don't forget macro economics statistics as well. Most countries politicians are obsessed with GDP growth, the easy way to get it is population growth.

My office leaves all the TVs on 24/7

Would XR not be better off coming up here telling us to turn them off rather than just p***ing us off under the premise that we're forced to listen to their demands to ban planes?
