I like that /\ Is that the Severn Crossing in the background ?

My (fwd) Volvo is far too sensible to do burnouts. My (also fwd) Beetle has only ever done one once, after I backed into a low wall in Germany laugh

I used to respect their right to protest, but I have moved my position slightly in recent weeks to a more robust one and would happily to give the order for a troop/battalion of challenger tanks to clear any protest.

What is the collective noun for a group of tanks?

This is Bristol at the moment

They are now causing delay for people trying to get to another hospital (Southmead), despite what happened yesterday.

Anyone watch the documentary last night on the BBC?

The presenter did a crap job of pushing them on agenda or asking difficult questions but it was interesting.

Clearly some of kids were passionate about the climate change bit but for others it was political "this is where all the rich bds live" it was also clear that the vast majority came from nice, educated middle class families just on the accents. They had no answers just rhetoric and panic, "we need to save the planet it's terrifying what about MY (future) kids".
There were several sections on people working for XR full time but no questions about where the money was coming from.
The police seemed to be doing a good job, if you don't move you will be arrested and that will be on your record forever.
The climate minister was good, really pulled the "we want to break the system" bit out of them when again they had no answers.

Time to form an Anti Ex R group and go and remove them.

"The Survivors"

Bring a road roller or two, muck spreaders and go for it.

Really annoyed with the lack of Police response. In fact disgusted. People trying to carry out their jobs to earn money to pay taxes to pay for a Police force and the idle scum get special treatment.

Bring on the Rollers.

A friend of my son works at the MOD and messaged me this morning. Seems like plans were in place for a lot of people to work from home tomorrow to avoid the protest, but maybe this got out and the protestors thought they'd strike while the iron was hot.

Speaking of which, can't believe the Cribbs hotel was still burning fiercely this morning. That's 18 hours it has been alight now....

Cheers, it is indeed - Queen Sq meet at Old Down Manor.

I normally have a Thursday appointment at Southmead but it was luckily brought forward to yesterday so I’ve missed the crowds. Heading over to Wales today instead of tomorrow now as I can see tomorrow being carnage.
The Cribbs fire is nuts, surprising it’s still going, there’s gonna be a lot of valeting to do at the dealerships!

I've got a hospital appointment tomorrow, but in Clifton, so hopefully should be ok. Just have to go the long way over the suspension bridge, assuming they don't block that too.
Smoke was drifting across the M4 earlier apparently. There's a few dealers up there, so they are going to be busy !

I caught most of it. Agree it was a bit light. My take on it was.

The people behind XR were pretty low profile other than Roger Hallam. He seemed quite happy to sit in his office eating bananas (shipped from the other side of the world) and hearing how many people were getting arrested.

The kids were naive and being used by the adults behind it to gain publicity. The police were quite rightly taking it easy when the kids were on "school strike" One kid (Jack?) was getting overexcited with it all and at one point I thought he would either hurt himself or someone else by accident.

I think it's just a matter of time until something goes pear shaped on one of these protests and someone does get hurt.

Good for him. As a former cop in Bristol I am ashamed at the way the current crop of handwringing senior officers have connived in making the lives of law abiding citizens difficult. 20 years ago we had a protest 'reclaim the streets' where we cleared the road in a fairly robust manner along with some dog handlers. I was bitten on my arm by one of the great unwashed, but he soon saw the error of his ways.

I find the current lack of action by the authorities a dereliction of their duty.

Yup , if you watch the video especially it captures the moment much better than the picture, she is obviously happy about the distress caused.

I agree. If people want to protest peacefully, without causing an obstruction, then that's fine. But when they're deliberately disrupting society, and impacting on the lives of others, then it's time to go in heavy, make arrests, and keep on doing that until they get the message.

Hopefully we'll get a more robust response when Boris gets in.....
