Abbey wood still the presumed centre of demonstration tomorrow as they move out of the city centre....
.....after having cleaned up Castle Park and leaving no trace of them being there as they promised....
They have said they are back at Abbeywood tomorrow, but also strong rumours that the Plimsoll Bridge is a target. .....after having cleaned up Castle Park and leaving no trace of them being there as they promised....
Apparently they are allowing 3 hours to clean up the park. I suspect there will still be tents there on Monday morning.
There was no prior notice of the Cardiff protest so it seems police are happy for any protesters to just turn up somewhere, block roads, camp in local parks and generally fk up peoples normal lives. Once other groups realise that the police will stand by and let them do anything they want the floodgates will open. I predict this will not end well....

There's usually on or two there anyway.Apparently they are allowing 3 hours to clean up the park. I suspect there will still be tents there on Monday morning.
Anyway, I'm sure I posted asking for directions to somebody else's post from a couple of months ago which detailed the actual effects of going to zero emissions by 2025. I know I didn't imagine it – I wish I'd screen grabbed it . It was a very well-reasoned assessment of everything we use fossil fuels for. And I can't find it.

From the article posted previously about the disruption in Bristol.
Darren Jones, the Labour MP for Bristol North West, said he supported the activists’ objectives but asked them not to block ambulances or people using “clean” buses.
So fk all the people that voted for him that dare to own a car or use a 'dirty' bus. I suppose they elected him, will they hold him to account.
On Tuesday afternoon I walked along Park St (in Bristol) and only saw a few protestors camped on College Green. Nevertheless the police were stopping cars driving up or down Park St and diverting them away but they were letting diesel buses go on Park St. Darren Jones, the Labour MP for Bristol North West, said he supported the activists’ objectives but asked them not to block ambulances or people using “clean” buses.

Talks about reform of laws to deal with XR. I find it hard to believe we don't have existing laws on the books that would deal with them perfectly well, it only the police would enforce them. https://www.telegraph.co.uk/politics/2019/07/16/tr...

As long as mankind has a hole in it's arse we are going to use fossil fuels for whatever use.
300K to police the protest. How much would you wager for the economic damage to Bristol ?

A combination of the permanent roadworks, protests from one group or another and the planned ULEZ will stop our company renewing the lease on our city centre office. I daresay we won't be the only ones.https://www.bristolpost.co.uk/news/bristol-news/ex...
You make it down to check out the protest on Bristol Bridge? Must admit it made me remember why I love Bristol. Was a great friendly street party with an educational message. Massively disagree with blocking the M32 though, although the police did step in.
Fully expect traffic to be rubbish tomorrow due to the harbour festival and the resultant bridge swings, and that’s before the protest. Couple of weeks time it’ll then be rubbish because of the balloon fiesta. And there might be a few car free days before. Last few months the traffic was horrific due to the concerts etc.
The volume of cars is not sustainable, there’s too much traffic and no where to park. I love driving but ditched clinging to my car for the daily commute a few years back.

Many suggestions that tomorrow will see them move to the Aztec West roundabout around 8am tomorrow morning. As someone that goes in and out of there at exactly that time, I'm preparing for fun and games in an area that suffers more than most from traffic queues and holdups.
Are there any student halls near Aztec? My understanding is XR had an agreement to protest on castle park - hence the road closures, They broke that and arrests were made (or badges of honour handed out) when they blockaded the M32
Given the prestige and publicity the harbour festival carries I'll be amazed if they don't shift their attention towards the Cumberland Basin tomorrow
Someone posted up a photograph of the Cardiff boat on the back of a trailer being towed by a Landrover on Facebook tonight.
Said car was filling up with petrol with it’s registration plate on show and somebody decided to reg check the vehicle. It happens to be in the highest emissions bracket and better yet failed it last MOT on emissions!.
