Out of curiosity if there are any posters living in the areas these climate warriors visited. Did they leave it all neat and tidy or a mess ?
My office is about 200yards away, but I must admit I didn’t bother checking yesterday because it was pissing down, and I had actual work to do. It’s never all that nice around where they were, between a blitzed church and a 90% derelict outpost of the Bank of England.
Yertis isn't wrong. Our old office used to overlook the park and we saw some sights ! Right next to the bridge is a hostel and we saw it get built and then slowly trashed by the residents. They took great delight in throwing all sorts of stuff out of the window (even firing an air rifle at people for a while). The park itself does normally have a certain aroma too, so it is colourful area at the best of times !

I've learned about micro plastics and fast fashion from what I've seen on television and read in the media. Plus, it's common sense that if something is cheap and subject to fashion it's going to create a lot of waste. I've read that a third of clothes bought online get returned and most of that gets landfilled. People find it doesn't look like it did online or doesn't fit properly or they buy something in several sizes with the intention of keeping the one that fits and returning the rest.

There was a lot of complaint about the ethics of the £1 Missguided bikini from the wastefulness and pollution when the 85% Polyester garment is thrown away after one Summer to the likelihood of the workers making it not being paid a fair wage.

https://www.retailgazette.co.uk/blog/2019/06/missg...

I've also read that we're eating a considerable amount of micro plastics as it enters the environment and ultimately ends up in our food chain.

https://www.independent.co.uk/life-style/food-and-...

I buy my clothes in shops, wear them for years until they're done, aim to use environmentally friendly products to wash them in and minimise my use of plastic. I worked for M&S when they started Plan A and used bags for life before most people did.

I don't need people to block roads to make me understand these things and, much as I might agree with their points on these subjects, I'm still going to be angry with them if they stop me going about my business. If it stops people buying from shops it will increase online shopping and the problems that stem from it.
It’s all whataboutism and deflection though. Smug people can look down on disposable fashion and the 18 year olds that buy it - while forgetting that everything in our lives is disposable, it’s just a question of time. Every consumer “durable” that is produced today will be scrap in 20 years. Our cars, our computers, most of our furniture, all of our kitchens. Having a bunch of crusties getting excited about a disposable bikini is rather missing the point.

Maybe it's just me, but I read that then look at this photo from Bristol and think just FRO.

In the 70s the crusties came out in Sheffield in support of the steel strike. They weren't interested in the steel workers, but simply in creating mayhem, smashing property and a general bit of nicking stuff. Got a thorough kicking, didn't come out a second night.
So, the chap with the cigarette is protesting about clean air is he?

I wonder how he would feel about a total smoking ban so we don't have to endure passive smoking.

That's because the politicians today have been brainwashed and frightened by social media into thinking this is the vote winner, the majority protesting. So they allow them to have their voice even if they are creating massive problems for the real silent voting majority.

No social media in the 1970s, kick the st out of them.

I miss the 1970s.

I reckon woman cop is thinking this...

We've lost the plot, whereas some other countries like Italy seem to dish out the right penalties to the ignorant and crusty elements.

They have the right attitude summed up in these two sentences..
“Our city will always be open and welcoming to all those who want to come and visit it.”
“At the same time, we will be intransigent with those who think they will come and do what they want.”

the same attitude needs to be taken with some of the scum that visit our countryside and coast here.just back from three days fishing. two bags of rubbish with me. one small one from me and a mate, one large one of rubbish left by said scum. would have been another one but a lovely family from yorkshire that were in the same bay at the time we were there picked up the huge pile of empty cans, plastic bags and part burned tent left by a local family of inbreds before we got to it.

this was a few miles down farm tracks that most people didn't know were there prior to google maps. another downside of the internet.

Ah the irony of a fisherman moaning about people leaving stuff behind!

Beaches and river banks are covered in the cast offs of fishermen, and have been for decades. How many times as a kid have I had a fishing hook pulled out of my foot or seen wildlife wrapped up in discarded fishing tackle..
So yes, it's ironic that a fisherman should moan about others leaving stuff behind.

It will cost passengers a fortune to offset to zero. Airlines can't really stop using fuel. The emissions are still there, just traded off.

Hopefully some of Scotland Yards finest have infiltrated these eco warriors.
Imagine poor Charlotte and Henrietta's disappointment . To find out that the man of their dreams the one who they could finally call their soul mate was in fact undercover Cock Cop.
No name to pop on the birth certificate and the warning voice in their heads everytime they looked longingly at the disposal nappy section in Sainsburys.
The agony of choosing the least environmentally damaging pushchair

especially when Charlotte and Henrietta are vegans and then they learn they really have been gobbling up the pork and enjoying it.

the morons that leave gear behind are in the same bracket as the scum that leave general rubbish. the anglers i know make a point of removing others crap, including that of other anglers, so i will ask you to avoid tarring us all with the same brush.
