Police have banned peaceful, nonviolent Extinction Rebellion protests in London.
Amnesty UK says it is “an unlawful constraint of our rights to Freedom of Expression and peaceful assembly.”
If standing up against the climate and ecological breakdown and for humanity is against the rules then the rules must be broken.
I decline your invitation to break the law.
Guardian had an article about how Black Londoners do their best to avoid being arrested, and now these white Londoners have come along and are doing their best to get arrested Police have banned peaceful, nonviolent Extinction Rebellion protests in London.

I am struggling to see how this isn't encouraging the commission of an offence. I know that it will give them martyrs and a platform but that might be preferable. "Police have banned peaceful, nonviolent Extinction Rebellion protests in London.

No thanks. I'm not interested in gluing myself to trains.
What "right of peaceful assembly" is this? I thought that was a US thing."Police have banned peaceful, nonviolent Extinction Rebellion protests in London.

Forgetting that they had a week of ‘peaceful protest’ with low key policing and benefit of the doubt when it came to glueing yourselves to aeroplanes etc."Police have banned peaceful, nonviolent Extinction Rebellion protests in London.

Very much in line with the general rhetoric and hyperbole of this group.

ER are "inspiring the people to rise up", as they claimed they would do.
But obviously not in the way they hoped.
LOLBut obviously not in the way they hoped.
If you don't want to get dragged off the roof of a tube train, don't get up there and stop (potentially thousands of) people from going about their daily routine. Simple.

Where were they today? I've been in Piccadilly/St James' this morning and the police and TSG were very visible everywhere.
Oxford Circus. Without the police there, people would be dragging them down.

Flashmob of a human barricade combined with banners and whatnot. They run out into the road, link arms and sing kumbaya while relying on the fact that most Londoners are decent folk and won't mow them down.
Or the police stopped the traffic to prevent Londoners giving them some more "support".grumbledoak said:

I don't think the police are informed enough to be proactive about this lot. They will react to reports of what's happening and then act within a brief as ordered. That may well involve some peacekeeping, yes. hyphen said:

The possibility that she wrote the above statement is remote.

This bell-end is 43 year old tree surgeon Ben Atkinson. He's just climbed up the outside of Elizabeth Tower (Big Ben) while dressed in a Boris wig.
Interesting wave.
Well Oswald was Labour MP before he decided that they weren't far enough left for him..... Interesting wave.

Single person clears out protestors blocking the road in America, if the Police weren't actively protecting and enabling them here then the same would happen imo with the general public.

Given the number of people who are aware of tube train events and the effectiveness of our police https://www.facebook.com/JeffDye/videos/1152504538...
Anyone would think there's a London-wide ban on XR imposed by the police. What a joke.
