Climate protesters block roads
Discussion
Well it looks like Extinction Rebellion have pushed a bit too hard.
Going to be considered for inclusion and treatment as 'an organised crime group' following their blockade of the printing presses. On top of the apparent £200,000 worth of fines just handed out by the Met.
Good, they're just doing everything they can to lose any support. Witness the reaction to them cheering when their road block stopped an ambulance on blues to an immediate response.
It's clear there is evidence of infiltration from Communist League and Socialist Workers with the intent just to stir up anarchy, nothing to do with climate. No doubt Starmer will adopt the mealy mouthed tactics of Democrats in USA who have referred to disturbances there as "riots" in inverted commas, as if folks looting and setting buildings on fire are just a bit of a civilised protest as opposed to semi-organised criminal mayhem
Stick each one of the XR gits with a 10k fine. Then if they carry on treat them accordingly. Enough. Under the 2015 Serious Crime Act an organised crime group “has at its purpose, or one of its purposes, the carrying on of criminal activities, and consists of three or more people who agree to act together to further that purpose.” Those participating in the activities of an organised crime group can be imprisoned for up to five years.

The great unwashed mob that is XR setting up road blocks etc is a total hassle for the unfortunate members of the public caught up in it all. I agree we need to maintain free speech, right to protest etc, but apart from annoying the st out of people, what does XR hope to achieve?FiF said:

You have to be amused by all the press condemnation of those they previously lauded as heroes. Turns out if you play with fire you get burned. Can anybody point me to the multi page thread condemning the violent blockading of the Port of Dover and related attacks on our police officers? I can't see it with all the hand wringing and pearl clutching about some people peacefully standing in the road near a print works.
They weren't peacefully standing in the road, those climate protestors were blocking it in order to prevent the delivery of newspapers they disapproved of, and this is after all the 'climate protestors block roads' thread. mx5nut said:

Should people and groups be allowed to stop the publication of outlets that they believe have the "wrong" opinion? mx5nut said:

If you mean the one where members were allowed to comment on clandestine entry in to Britain by criminals, it was closed.A Winner Is You said:

Should people and groups be allowed to stop the publication of outlets that they believe have the "wrong" opinion?Council of Europe issues media freedom alert over UK government blacklisting of investigative journalists
I think XR have behaved appallingly but it does make the condemnation from the likes of Johnson and Patel look a little hollow when the UK is issues a state level warning from the Council of Europe for Government treatment of the press.
