XR seemed to be trying to disassociate themselves from Hallam and his latest ego trip.

Can anybody point me to the multi page thread condemning the violent blockading of the Port of Dover and related attacks on our police officers? I can't see it with all the hand wringing and pearl clutching about some people peacefully standing in the road near a print works.
What, you mean the one that occurred on Friday?

We're waiting for you to start it. After all, that's why you're here.

To help you in your endeavour, form what I've seen so far, it looks like the yob end of the market doing their thing. Their traction seems small, but maybe you could post some links from the Fail or the Stun, to aid your case & get things going?

Oh, that's right...

hehe

Itd be far more amusing for a lottery to be held each week where winners of 2 numbers or less get to kick ten colours of merde out of these creeps.
Itd be worth the entry price just for the chance to put a legal boot into a crusties thick wooden head.

Well it looks like Extinction Rebellion have pushed a bit too hard.

Going to be considered for inclusion and treatment as 'an organised crime group' following their blockade of the printing presses. On top of the apparent £200,000 worth of fines just handed out by the Met.

Good, they're just doing everything they can to lose any support. Witness the reaction to them cheering when their road block stopped an ambulance on blues to an immediate response.

It's clear there is evidence of infiltration from Communist League and Socialist Workers with the intent just to stir up anarchy, nothing to do with climate. No doubt Starmer will adopt the mealy mouthed tactics of Democrats in USA who have referred to disturbances there as "riots" in inverted commas, as if folks looting and setting buildings on fire are just a bit of a civilised protest as opposed to semi-organised criminal mayhem

Stick each one of the XR gits with a 10k fine. Then if they carry on treat them accordingly. Enough. Under the 2015 Serious Crime Act an organised crime group “has at its purpose, or one of its purposes, the carrying on of criminal activities, and consists of three or more people who agree to act together to further that purpose.” Those participating in the activities of an organised crime group can be imprisoned for up to five years.
I heard about this on the Radio that they blocked printing presses.

My first thought was good on them as printing paper, sending it to the other side of the country to be read once or twice and then thrown in the recycling is so bad for the environment and unnecessary why not send it digitally?

But their aim was something else entirely hehe

Did you here the police officer on LBC this morning?

He was saying that they try to discuss with them why they are doing this? Them saying that there is no need for cars or even buses or trains in cities any more, he then asked how they got there? Well by car and public transport, but this is for something worthwhile. When he pointed out the irony of their actions they then always go into this "you are making me feel stressed." and shut the conversation down.

All anti capitalist wasters that jump on a cause and use people who genuinely care like puppets for their gain. It is said these youngsters are taken in by it. But then again, many who are old enough to know better are too on here.

Just see the recent pavement parking thread for some fine "everyone except me should give up their cars" examples

The technique of shutting a conversation down when someone makes an inconveniently pertinent point that counteracts the current stance is used just too often. It makes me too stressed, it's a trigger, I won't be gas lighted, claims of misogyny when there has been none, many others.

Not sure what has been the change which started this but we appear to have bred a generation of children and now young adults, though kidults may be a more appropriate term, who have absolutely zero emotional resilience.

This telephone conversation used to be held weekly in the research school at uni, it probably still is, at least I don't have to be arsed with it.

Female voice : "Hello I'm enquiring about the possibility of doing a PhD in <general subject area>"
You : "Ah yes I could be a supervisor for a DPhil in that, we currently are looking into <specific area of interest>. Is that something that could be of interest and relevant for you?"
Female voice: "Oh it's not for me, it's for my son"
You: Inwardly sighing another one. "Is he there?"
Female voice: "Yes."
You: "May I speak with him to discuss some details and background experience?"
Female voice. "No, he doesn't talk on the telephone."

At that point you can either treat them to another "click" of a receiver being dropped on them, or if it's a position that's been difficult to fill give a sigh, provide direct email contacts and just resign yourself to another potential snowflake interaction with someone who has been through education, including university, possibly done a Masters, but still has to get his Mummy to ring up for him.

Regular complaint of employers that kidults start jobs but when in post refuse to answer phones. FFS what's wrong with them.

When the people behind the organisation have an agenda that is nothing to do with climate, animal rights, racism, or any of myriad other causes that are above criticism, the line that is fed to the useful fools who represent the front line is unsustainable under even the most basic questioning. I find it ironic that Rowan Williams (one-time Archbishop of Canterbury) is among these useful fools. One faith proclaiming another!

LBC again a couple of days ago, I think it was Maajid Nawaz. This woman rings in (I would say in her 40's-50's judging by her voice) saying Extinction Rebellion were great and had a good message which she wholeheartedly supported, Nawaz was a bit clever in his questioning and without a hint of any irony she said she sees what goes on in the world whilst out and about in her car, driving to work, to the shops etc.

He called her out as a hypocrite she just couldnt see it, he gave her an opportunity to argue her side but she just couldn't, she just couldn't see what she was saying and supporting and yet doing the opposite, was wrong.

I'm minded to start buying a physical edition of a Murdoch paper, just to annoy XR.

Steady Johnnytheboy, steady! Esso petrol stations were giving copies of The Sun away a little while ago - no wasting your hard-earned on cheap toilet paper!

When there was talk of COVID-19 cases in Leicester it turned out the spike was immigrants catching it as they were working in illegal clothes factories where people weren't being paid Minimum Wage and there was no health and safety protocol.

How many of these young people protesting for BLM and XR buy cheap throwaway clothes online without understanding or caring that they are made in these illegal factories by immigrants being taken advantage of? Plus the environmental damage from the huge proportion that are returned and thrown away and the fact the clothes people keep don't last long.

They protest and criticise what other people do, but if they're called out on what they do they just say it's not about blaming individuals.
